John from Brisbane has added a photo to the pool:

Days in February this year were just right for some mid morning swimming. These three couples are at Suttons Beach in Redcliffe in the City of Moreton Bay which is that directly north of Brisbane. Looking across Moreton Bay in this shot is Moreton Island, a fringing all sand island including those large hills with Tangalooma Resort, former whaling station about opposite as a non-drunken crow flies.

You can see at the southern, that is right hand end, the sandhills are not vegetated. Ferries and barges will take you across to the island. There are no major living communities on the island as such.

North and South Stradbroke Islands are out of sight to the right, plus lots more.

Today couldn't be more different, cloudy, some rain and cold!

Zuid-Korea zal zijn dronecapaciteiten uitbreiden om Noord-Korea het hoofd te bieden, onder meer door 500.000 dronestrijders op te leiden. Dat maakte het ministerie van Defensie vrijdag bekend.

Daarnaast zal het land tienduizenden onbemande systemen verspreiden over eenheden aan het front. Het leger is ook van plan om tegen 2029 110.000 drones te produceren voor de verschillende krijgsmachtdelen, zodat drones tot de standaarduitrusting van militairen gaan behoren.

De aankondiging komt op een moment dat beide Korea's meer investeren in dronecapaciteiten, mede door de succesvolle inzet van drones in Oekraïne en het Midden-Oosten. "Goedkope drones die in grote aantallen worden ingezet, veranderen de aard van oorlogsvoering fundamenteel", zei minister van Defensie Ahn Gyu-back.

Hij waarschuwde dat ook Noord-Korea vooruitgang boekt met onbemande systemen. Daardoor neemt de dreiging voor militaire en civiele faciliteiten in Zuid-Korea toe.
