JEANTES (ANP) - In de Noord-Franse plaats Jeantes zijn drie Nederlanders omgekomen door een zwaar verkeersongeval. Ook raakten drie mensen gewond, van wie één ernstig, meldden lokale Franse media waaronder de krant Le Courrier. Het Nederlandse ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken kan de berichtgeving over de slachtoffers niet bevestigen.
De Nederlanders zaten alle drie in dezelfde auto, die met een andere auto in botsing was gekomen. De Nederlanders zouden huizen bezitten in de omgeving, aldus Le Courrier.
De krant publiceerde een foto waarop een volledig gekantelde SUV te zien is op de weg.
Een eerste onderzoek heeft nog geen uitsluitsel geboden over de oorzaak van het ongeval. "Het was een botsing op hoge snelheid, maar de oorzaak is op dit moment nog onbekend", zei politiecommandant Olivier Puisney tegen lokale media. "Er is nader onderzoek ingesteld."
