Op dashcambeelden is te zien hoe de Britse voetballer slingerend over de snelweg reed. “Als je alles in ogenschouw neemt, vind ik dat hij prima gereden heeft”, zegt Van Persie. “Natuurlijk, het was allemaal nog niet perfect, dat weet Raheem ook. Maar van wat ik eerder van hem gezien heb, is hij een automobilist van de buitencategorie.”
De Feyenoord-trainer hekelt de critici van Sterling. “Om hem nou af te branden op één zo’n ongeluk… Dat vind ik typisch Nederlands, dat cynisme. Een beetje meer respect is op z’n plaats. Je kan het ook positief bekijk en zeggen: het valt best mee dat hij niemand geraakt heeft en zijn Lamborghini keurig tegen de vangrail heeft geparkeerd om erger te voorkomen.”
Van Persie besluit: “Iedereen is erg kritisch, maar probeer eerst zelf maar eens ’s ochtends onder invloed een auto te besturen. Nou ja, bij wijze van spreken dan.”

The disquiet and distrust surrounding artificial intelligence among artists and creatives remain real and consequential, and the language used by leading arts commentators is often apocalyptic: AI will decimate the arts, it is evil, it is the devil. Like many emerging technologies, AI has been driven by the corporations at the forefront of its creation. Introduced to the public at a rapid rate and continuously evolving, machine learning has become closely entwined with fear, antipathy and foreboding. At the same time, its powers and possibilities are expanding exponentially, becoming embedded in almost every aspect of human activity.
The upcoming RBO/SHIFT festival at the Royal Opera House aims to interrogate all sides of this fast-evolving landscape to enable artists, performers, creatives and audiences to think deeply and widely about where we are now, and where we may be tomorrow. Machine learning represents a seismic shift, both in society and in the arts, and we need storytellers, artists, teachers and thinkers in this space to help determine the direction of that shift and help us navigate this unfamiliar territory.

Do you ever get the feeling that the people running the world are delulu? That the 1% are living in a completely different universe from the rest of us? You’re not the only one. Even some tech elites are starting to worry about their peers’ grasp on reality. “CEOs are uniquely prone to AI psychosis,” Aaron Levie, a co-founder of the enterprise cloud company Box, declared on X last month. His reasoning for this? “They’re sufficiently distant from the last mile of work that still has to happen to generate most value with AI. So when they play with AI, they see the happy path results, often not considering the next 10 or 20 things that have to happen to get sustainable results from agents.”
In other words: CEOs are so high up the food chain that they don’t understand the human labour that goes into turning an error-riddled AI creation into something that functions properly in a business context. They are desperate to replace their annoying and expensive human labour with compliant AI models, but grossly overestimate what the technology can do. Meanwhile, the industry is rushing out overhyped AI solutions without properly stress-testing them.

De organisatie van het Libéma Open heeft de nummer 7 van de wereld een wildcard gegeven, waardoor het aantal top 10-spelers op drie uitkomt. Eerder zegden de Canadees Félix Auger-Aliassime en de Rus Daniil Medvedev hun deelname al toe aan het grastoernooi op het Autotron.
De Minaur (27) kon vorig jaar door een schouderblessure zijn titel niet verdedigen. In 2024 won de Australiër in de finale van de Amerikaan Sebastian Korda. Dat was toen zijn negende titel. Inmiddels staat hij op elf eindzeges.
Namens Nederland doen volgende week Tallon Griekspoor, Botic van de Zandschulp en Thijs Boogaard mee. De Canadees Gabriel Diallo is de titelverdediger.
DEN HAAG (ANP) - Bij uit de hand gelopen demonstraties tegen de komst van asielzoekers in Vriezenveen en Wijk bij Duurstede zijn maandagavond drie mensen aangehouden. Dat meldt de politie dinsdag. In het Overijsselse Vriezenveen ging het om twee personen, in Wijk bij Duurstede om een arrestatie.
In Wijk bij Duurstede werd een 23-jarige man uit Doorn aangehouden voor openlijke geweldpleging. Volgens de politie gooide een groep demonstranten met vuurwerk en stenen tijdens een protest tegen de komst van een azc.
In Twente greep de politie in op het Manitobaplein in Vriezenveen. Nadat de demonstranten werd medegedeeld dat ze moesten vertrekken, gooiden demonstranten stenen en vuurwerk naar de politie. De twee aangehouden personen zijn een minderjarige uit Vroomshoop voor het bezit van verboden vuurwerk en een minderjarige uit Almelo voor openlijke geweldpleging en belediging van een ambtenaar in functie. Beide zitten niet meer vast. De politie sluit meer aanhoudingen niet uit.
U zit nu wel op uw dooie gemakt dit topic te lezen maar eigenlijk is het vreemd dat we ons niet vandaag nog massaal als lemmingen van het dak gooien. Visjes in de Stille Oceaan worden levend gekookt en zodra die warmte uit het zeewater begint te kloten met de windstromen is het aan. Nog meer aan dan het ooit aan is geweest, dat werd ook geroepen in 2023 en toen viel het allemaal wel mee maar de natuur is een teef dus die gunt ons nevernooit een tweede meevaller. De sterkste El Niño OOIT volgens de sterkste modellen. Waar het warm is, wordt het heul heul heul warm. Waar het nat is, wordt het heul heul heul nat. Amerika en Azië onder water, Australië in de fik, overal honger, deaud en verderf en een lied met BN'ers en een heerlijk najaar (plus minder orkanen in de overzeese gebieden) voor ons. HELLUP!
