Elon Musk, eigenaar van SpaceX, zei dat een technisch mankement de lancering onmogelijk maakte. Als het probleem in de nacht van donderdag op vrijdag kan worden verholpen, is er vrijdagochtend een nieuwe poging, aldus Musk.

Het moet de twaalfde testvlucht van een Starship worden. Het gaat om een aangepaste versie van de raket, die geschikt moet zijn voor langere ruimtevluchten. SpaceX wil ooit mensen naar Mars en terug brengen.
