Debbie Allen once found herself judging the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City alongside a charismatic property developer named Donald Trump. He had just bought an 86-metre superyacht named Nabila and rebranded it the Trump Princess. Eager to flaunt his prize, he invited Allen, a dancer, choreographer, actor and director, and her sister, the actor Phylicia Rashad, aboard for a private tour.

In haar column schiet Maaike Bos lukraak in het rond met een beschuldiging van CULTURELE TOE-EIGENING (daarover zo meer) aan het adres van de Israëlische Songfestivalartiest Noam Bettan en een beschuldiging van ordinaire zelfverrijking en kijkertjes te vriend houden jegens de NPO omdat het Songfestival überhaupt wordt uitgezonden. Terwijl de NPO juist een keertje klip en klaar was over de reden van uitzenden: "NOS Evenementen heeft als wettelijke taak het uitzenden en verslag doen van grote nationale en internationale evenementen, zoals het Zomercarnaval en Koningsdag. Bij de NTR ligt de taak van het maken van culturele programma's." Het Eurovisie Songfestival, zou dat een groot internationaal evenement zijn?

Goed, dan die 'culturele toe-eigening', sowieso al een totaal onzinnig begrip, maar in dit geval ook nog eens onjuist gebruikt. Dat Bettan in het Frans en Engels zingt steekt Bos: "Het Frans en Engels roept bij mij de reactie op: blijf van ‘onze’ talen af. Is de boodschap ‘Europa, ik hoor ook bij jullie’? Dan moet zijn land ook echt stoppen (laatste waarschuwing, red.) met al dat verschrikkelijke geweld." Wat Bos echter niet meldt is dat Bettan twee Franse ouders heeft, info die met een klik en een blik op Google al is gevonden. Daarmee blijkt het Frans veeleer Bettans dan onze (lees: Maaike Bos') taal. Oja en het Engels, de wereldtaal Engels, in die taal mogen Israëli's natuurlijk ook niet zingen. Vergeet daarnaast niet de 'Arabische klanken', want dan verliest Bos haar bolletje hoor: "Het stekende gevoel wanneer culturele toe-eigening ongepast is, overvalt me niet vaak. Dit keer wel. Zo lichtzinnig als hij die Arabische riffjes gebruikt voor eigen gewin: dat klopt niet in de context van Gaza." Je zou haast zeggen dat 'eigen gewin' juist wél klopt in de context van een liedjeswedstrijd, maar Bos denkt niet na en zoekt niet uit, Bos wil aanhoudend aantonen zó ontzettend met Gaza te zitten en Israël zo diep te haten dat ze eigenlijk volstaat met: 'Voor Israëli's Verboten'. 

Enfin, er zijn Trouw-columnisten voor minder verraden.
