Een motorrijder is zaterdagmiddag gevallen op de Noordzeeweg in Rozenburg en gewond geraakt. Hij is met spoed naar het ziekenhuis vervoerd. Het zou gaan om een eenzijdig ongeval.
MÜNCHEN (ANP) - Het Duitse defensiebedrijf Helsing staat op het punt om met een nieuwe financieringsronde 1,2 miljard dollar op te halen om zijn activiteiten uit te breiden. Dat meldt de Britse zakenkrant Financial Times op basis van ingewijden. Daarmee verstevigt het bedrijf uit München zijn positie als een van Europa's meest waardevolle start-ups. De onderneming, gesteund door techmiljardair Daniel Ek, maakt onder meer geavanceerde drones.
Met de nieuwe financieringsronde zou Helsing worden gewaardeerd op 18 miljard dollar. De kapitaalronde is een nieuwe aanwijzing voor het groeiende enthousiasme van investeerders voor de defensiesector.
Private investeringen zijn sterk toegenomen door de verwachte hogere militaire uitgaven van Europese overheden na de Russische invasie van Oekraïne in 2022. Het conflict en de opkomst van drones hebben bovendien gezorgd voor verschuivingen in militaire technologie op het slagveld.
Kamikazedrones
Eerder dit jaar plaatste Duitsland een grote bestelling voor zogenoemde kamikazedrones voor de Duitse krijgsmacht bij de start-ups Helsing en Stark. Berlijn wil de komende jaren voor miljarden euro's van deze drones, die in de lucht rondhangen tot ze een doelwit zien om zich erop te storten, aanschaffen.
Helsing heeft ook al duizenden drones aan Oekraïne geleverd die worden gemaakt in zijn fabriek in Zuid-Duitsland. Daarnaast tekende het bedrijf dronecontracten met het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Zweden.
LE MANS (ANP) - De Spaanse wegracer Jorge Martín heeft op spectaculaire wijze de sprintrace gewonnen van de MotoGP bij de Grote Prijs van Frankrijk. Hij startte op het circuit van Le Mans als achtste, maar wist zijn Aprilia in de eerste drie bochten naar de eerste plaats te sturen. De wereldkampioen van 2024 hield vervolgens stand tot aan de finish.
Martín boekte al zijn achttiende zege in een sprintrace en daarmee is hij recordhouder. In de WK-stand van dit jaar staat hij tweede achter de Italiaanse WK-leider Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), die in Le Mans als derde eindigde in de sprint. De Italiaan Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), die vanaf poleposition vertrok, kwam in de sprint als tweede over de meet.
Regerend wereldkampioen Marc Márquez crashte in de laatste ronde. Hij raakte de controle kwijt over zijn Ducati en vloog over de kop. De Spanjaard liep ietwat verdwaasd weg van zijn compleet vernielde motor, maar leek geen ernstig letsel te hebben.
Zondag is de hoofdrace van de MotoGP in Le Mans. Bagnaia start dan weer vanaf pole.

A weekend in Tokyo with my pals, we've been drinkin and gamblin all night and there's vomit all over the hotel rooms we booked. We were different men in that exact moment, and I think I got a collective 6 hours of sleep that whole weekend. Eventually I was the last one left, everyone else went back to the rooms a couple of hours ago. Sun was coming up and I thought "ok, this is actually starting to get sad, it's time to go to bed". But I needed one more drink, surely this alleyway still had one last place open. (This is a fabrication to set up the mood for this shot, I don't encourage belligerent tourism).
I don't know what else is new, I took several focus shots on lanterns at Omoide Yokocho. In fact, I believe I posted one using that red one as a subject back in October. I wanted a different one this time though, I wanted one adorned with sakura. As is with most other compositions you can get in these alleyways, I didn't have to look very far for what I was looking for.
In editing I gave all the focus I possibly could to the closer objects and meanwhile took the clarity from everything else cause it wasn't good enough (note to self: tighten your damn shutter speed). Tried to keep the lighting on the supports and strewn wires in the back to give a sense this was a blue hour shot.
