Een sterker mbo betekent een sterker Nederland — als mbo-docent verkondig ik dat overal. ‘Ja meneer, we weten nou wel dat mbo’ers ondergewaardeerd worden. Maar hoe moeten we dat veranderen?’ Goede vraag! Ik heb een aantal ideeën.
Last September, the film Amadeus turned 40. Long criticized for its looseness with historical fact (no, Salieri didn't live a life of chastity as a way of thanking God for killing his father), Amadeus has experienced a critical reassessment in recent years. Mozart's vulgar laugh is now seen by many as a middle finger to the Soviet Union in what would prove to be the regime's final years.
This BBC article argues that the "use of a fictionalised version of an epic clash between musical composers" was less a biopic and more an allegory to the "defining global rivalry of the mid-to-late 20th Century: the Cold War. Put simply, the film may have played fast and loose with 1784 because its real preoccupation was 1984." Further from the article: "Whatever its loose correspondence to the late-18th and early-19th Centuries, this critique can be read as a stab at the USSR – a debilitatingly centralised bureaucracy hostile to insurgent ideas and innovation. But [Director Milos] Forman showed that Mozart would get the last laugh. By the events of 1823, Salieri's insipid, state-sponsored melodies have all been forgotten, while a few bars of Mozart draw immediate joy to the priest's face. Vorig jaar zijn er in ons land 172.000 mensen overleden, ruim 87.000 vrouwen en bijna 85.000 mannen. Meer dan de helft, 57 procent, was ouder dan tachtig. In totaal waren er 2500 meer sterfgevallen dan in 2023, aldus statistiekbureau CBS.
De levensverwachting bij geboorte was in 2024 voor mannen 80,5 jaar voor mannen en 83,3 jaar voor vrouwen. "Dat is voor mannen drie maanden meer dan de levensverwachting in 2023, voor vrouwen een maand minder", aldus het CBS.
Met de bevolkingsgroei en vergrijzing stijgt het aantal overledenen. Sinds eind vorige eeuw gaat het vaker om vrouwen dan om mannen, doordat er meer oudere vrouwen zijn.
