LONDEN (ANP/BLOOMBERG) - OnlyFans heeft zijn eigenaar Leonid Radvinsky 701 miljoen dollar aan dividend uitgekeerd. Daarmee verdient de Oekraïens-Amerikaanse ondernemer opnieuw flink aan het steeds populairder wordende socialemediaplatform met content voor volwassenen.

Het uit 2016 daterende OnlyFans maakte een opmars tijdens de coronapandemie, toen veel sekswerkers en beroemdheden op zoek waren naar manieren om geld te verdienen tijdens de lockdowns. Ook daarna bleef het platform gebruikers trekken. Afgelopen boekjaar, dat eindigde op 30 november, steeg het aantal accounts van contentmakers met 13 procent naar 4,6 miljoen, terwijl het aantal fanaccounts met 24 procent toenam tot 377,5 miljoen.

Hoewel veel content pornografisch is, biedt de site ook ruimte aan makers die zich richten op andere onderwerpen zoals fitness en voeding. OnlyFans verdient haar geld door 20 procent commissie te rekenen op abonnementen of bijvoorbeeld video's, foto's en chats die via het platform worden verkocht.

DEN HAAG (ANP) - Bij het Centraal Meldpunt Identiteitsfraude (CMI) melden zich veel bezorgde gedupeerden van de datadiefstal bij een laboratorium in Rijswijk. Het gaat om deelnemers aan het bevolkingsonderzoek naar baarmoederhalskanker. Het CMI zegt veel vragen binnen te krijgen en de ongerustheid te begrijpen, maar benadrukt dat een datalek niet automatisch betekent dat sprake is van identiteitsfraude.

In de brief die gedupeerden hebben gekregen van Bevolkingsonderzoek Nederland staat dat onder meer gegevens als naam, adres, woonplaats, geboortedatum en BSN zijn gelekt. In sommige gevallen gaat het ook om e-mailadressen en telefoonnummers.

"Er bestaat bij betrokkenen soms de gedachte dat met deze gegevens bijvoorbeeld leningen of telefoonabonnementen afgesloten kunnen worden, of dat er toeslagen of nieuwe identiteitsdocumenten kunnen worden aangevraagd", zegt het CMI. "Dit is echter niet mogelijk zonder aanvullende verificatie, zoals een geldig identiteitsbewijs, bankgegevens of DigiD."

GERAARDSBERGEN (ANP) - Mathieu van der Poel heeft de derde etappe gewonnen van de Renewi Tour, de vijfdaagse etappekoers door Nederland en België. De Nederlandse toprenner kwam in een heuvelachtige rit over 182 kilometer als eerste aan op de Vesten van Geraardsbergen. Hij klopte in de eindsprint zijn Belgische medevluchters Arnaud De Lie en Tim Wellens.

De Lie nam de leiderstrui over van Olav Kooij, die donderdag de tweede etappe op zijn naam schreef. Van der Poel won de Renewi Tour al eens in 2020, toen de wielerronde nog de Binck Bank Tour heette. Het is zijn eerste wielerkoers na een in de Tour de France opgelopen longontsteking.

In this case, after consulting Maria’s helpful gallery (thank you Maria), I have delved into my archives, but not had to back too far. I have chosen a photo taken in Autumn this year, in the George Tindale Memorial Gardens in the Dandenong Ranges. It was a beautiful day, mild and sunny, and my partner and I went for a drive there to then wander the gardens. The golden colour of the autumnal canopy overhead was just stunning, and looked even more so against the clear azure sky. I stood beneath it, looked directly up through the branches and leaves, and took a photo. I hope that you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!

One of the more beautiful, but lesser known gardens in the Dandenong Ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne, is the remarkable George Tindale Memorial Gardens. Located just a short distance from the iconic Art Deco Burnham Beeches and famous Alfred Nichols Gardens, it is a delightful place to visit. A garden designed for the seasons, depending upon when you visit, you will find hydrangeas or camellias in profusion, cyclamens, English snowdrops and nerines popping up from unexpected places, cascades of colourful fuchsias, autumnal maple leaves or cherry blossoms, just to name a few well considered plantings amid massive and impressive Mountain Ash Trees. There are around over hundred and twenty-eight varieties of hydrangea in the gardens.

At 25%, the country's tax rate on books is the highest in the world, a policy the government believes is contributing to a growing "reading crisis." The culture minister, Jakob Engel-Schmidt, announced on Wednesday that the government would propose in its budget bill that the tax on books be removed. The move is expected to cost 330 million kroner ($51 million) a year.

"This is something that I, as minister of culture, have worked for, because I believe that we must put everything at stake if we are to end the reading crisis that has unfortunately been spreading in recent years," Engel-Schmidt told the Ritzau news agency . "I am incredibly proud. It is not every day that one succeeds in convincing colleagues that such massive money should be spent on investing in the consumption and culture of the Danes." [...]

"It is also about getting literature out there," said Engel-Schmidt. "That is why we have already allocated money for strengthened cooperation between the country's public libraries and schools, so that more children can be introduced to good literature."
