Experts estimate economic harm of US$2tn done by 200 years of chattel slavery but stress this is ‘not an invoice’
Britain stole 25 million years of life and labour through slavery in Barbados, according to new research by a team of international experts.
Their report concludes that Barbados’s population of African descent have suffered damages estimated at up to US$2tn (£1.5tn) from 200 years of chattel slavery.

OIRSCHOT (ANP) - De brandweer verwacht de natuurbrand op de Oirschotse Heide in Noord-Brabant ergens "in de komende uren onder controle te krijgen", meldt de veiligheidsregio. Die verwachting is gebaseerd op de huidige inzet van blusmateriaal.
De brand woedt in een gebied van 500 bij 500 meter. Eerder op de dag was dat nog 100 bij 100 meter.
In totaal worden nu tien blusvoertuigen ingezet. Die worden ondersteund door logistieke en watertransporteenheden. Daarbovenop meldt de veiligheidsregio dat een derde peloton klaarstaat voor hulp. Dat zijn nog eens zes extra blusvoertuigen
