A storefront caught mid-flow, people smearing slightly as they pass. The building holds steady while everything else moves through it. Cities are good at this. Fixed structures, constant motion.

WIJK BIJ DUURSTEDE (ANP) - Bij rellen bij het gemeentehuis in Wijk bij Duurstede heeft de politie vrijdagavond zeven mensen opgepakt. Er zijn volgens de politie zware vernielingen aangebracht aan het gemeentehuis. De mobiele eenheid is in actie gekomen.

Voor het gebied was een noodverordening van kracht. Volgens de politie gooiden relschoppers zwaar vuurwerk en stenen naar agenten en naar het gemeentehuis.

Het is al enige tijd onrustig in Wijk bij Duurstede in verband met de komst van een noodopvang voor asielzoekers.
