Label tried to keep band members out of trouble during first tour, Nick Lachey says in Boy Band Confidential

As they embarked on their first tour and their record label tried to limit their potential for legal issues, members of the 1990s US boyband 98 Degrees were equipped with a handbook listing the age at which people across the nation can lawfully consent to sex , the group’s lead singer, Nick Lachey, reveals in a new documentary.

“This is going to sound super shady, but … I remember our first tour, someone at the label gave us a book, and it was the age of consent in every state in the country,” Lachey says in Boy Band Confidential, which is premiering on Monday at 9pm ET on the cable network Investigation Discovery. “And like, we kept that book on the tour bus.”

The firm says it withheld an AI model on cybersecurity grounds but sceptics say this was hype to lure investment

This week, the AI company Anthropic said it had created an AI model so powerful that, out of a sense of overwhelming responsibility, it was not going to release it to the public.

The US treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, summoned the heads of major banks for a chat about the model, Mythos. The Reform UK MP Danny Kruger wrote a letter to the government urging it to “engage with AI firm Anthropic whose new frontier model Claude Mythos could present catastrophic cybersecurity risks to the UK”. It’s a huge loss for the shops, and as political types discuss whether Britain is broken, a hot potato: a coming-to-a-store-near-you symbol of a nation in which so many feel that law and order is just a US cop show on Channel 5.

Scientific Name: Rhipidura albiscapa
Description: The Grey Fantail is most easily recognised by its constantly fanned tail and agile aerial twists and turns. Both sexes are similar in appearance: grey above, with white eyebrow, throat and tail edges. This species is quite inquisitive and will closely approach an observer.
Similar species: Willie Wagtail, Rufous Fantail
Distribution: The Grey Fantail is found throughout Australia.
Habitat: The Grey Fantail is found in most treed habitats.
Seasonal movements: Appears to undergo a partial northern migration during winter.
Feeding: The Grey Fantail feeds on flying insects, which it catches by chasing them from the edge of foliage at all levels in the canopy.
Breeding: The Grey Fantail builds its nest in a thin tree-fork, unusually between 2 and 5 metres from the ground. It is made of fine grass bound together with large amounts of spider web. The bottom of the nest is drawn out into a long stem, resembling that of a wine-glass. Both parents share nest-building, incubation of the eggs and feeding of the young when they hatch.
The nest of the Grey Fantail has a long tapering stem that resembles a wine-glass.
Calls: Ascending, tinkling, whistles and squeaks.

De man die afgelopen vrijdag op klaarlichte dag een buschauffeur mishandelde in Rotterdam, wordt ook gezocht voor het eerder mishandelen van dezelfde buschauffeur. De vorige mishandeling vond op zaterdag 7 maart plaats, meldt de politie zondag. Er is inmiddels beeld van de verdachte verspreid waar hij herkenbaar op staat.

De buschauffeur had op de bewuste 7 maart de man, die instapte bij de halte Abtsweg, verzocht uit te stappen toen zijn pas niet werkte. De verdachte werd agressief en gaf de buschauffeur een klap, legt de politie uit.

Afgelopen vrijdag stapte de man de bus in bij de halte Kleinpolderplein, waarop de buschauffeur hem herkende. Hij wilde dit doorgeven aan zijn collega's, maar hierop sloeg de man de buschauffeur meerdere keren.

De politie is op zoek naar getuigen van de mishandelingen.

In een zeldzaam optreden vanuit het Witte Huis heeft Melania Trump fel ontkend dat zij ooit een persoonlijke band had met Jeffrey Epstein. De Amerikaanse First Lady sprak van “leugens” en “smaad”, terwijl president Donald Trump zegt niet vooraf op de hoogte te zijn geweest van de inhoud van haar verklaring.

Melania Trump heeft in een zeldzame verklaring vanuit het Witte Huis elke persoonlijke band met de overleden zedendelinquent Jeffrey Epstein ontkend. De Amerikaanse First Lady sprak donderdag in Washington en noemde berichten over een vermeende relatie met Epstein “leugens” en “smaad” die haar reputatie zouden moeten beschadigen.

Volgens Trump overlapten haar en Epsteins sociale kringen in New York en Palm Beach, maar was er nooit sprake van een vriendschap. Ze zei nooit op Epsteins privé‑eiland te zijn geweest, niet in zijn vliegtuigen te hebben gezeten en niets te hebben geweten van zijn misbruik van minderjarigen. In geen enkele rechtbankdocumenten of verhoren rond de zaak zou haar naam als getuige voorkomen, benadrukte ze.

Aanleiding voor de verklaring is onder meer een uit 2002 daterende e‑mail uit de Epstein‑archieven, ondertekend met “Love, Melania”, die in Amerikaanse media tot speculaties over een nauwere relatie leidde. Trump en haar advocaten kondigden aan hard te zullen blijven optreden tegen volgens hen valse beschuldigingen, ook met juridische stappen waar nodig.

De timing van het optreden roept in de VS vragen op, omdat de Epstein‑zaak politiek enigszins naar de achtergrond was verdrongen. President Donald Trump verklaarde in eerste reacties dat hij van de inhoud van Melania’s statement vooraf niet op de hoogte was, al bevestigde hij dat zij “het recht had” zich over Epstein uit te spreken.
