SAN DIEGO (ANP) - De vier astronauten van de Artemis II-ruimtemissie zijn overgebracht naar een Amerikaans marineschip, waar ze medisch onderzocht worden. Op beelden van NASA was te zien dat de vier zelf te voet het dek van het schip overstaken.
Ruimtevaartuig Orion landde om 02.07 uur Nederlandse tijd voor de kust van de Californische stad San Diego in de Stille Oceaan.
Het viertal vertrekt zaterdag naar Houston, zo liet de ruimtevaartorganisatie weten in een persconferentie. Volgens Artemis-vluchtleider Rick Henfling zijn ze "gezond en blij en eraan toe om naar huis te gaan." De missie heeft volgens Henfling in de afgelopen tien dagen 700.237 mijl afgelegd, ruim 1,1 miljoen kilometer. De hoogst behaalde snelheid was een kleine 40.000 kilometer per uur.
