Four men deported by the US to Eswatini and denied in-person legal counsel for nine months while detained in a maximum security prison have the right to see a local lawyer, Eswatini’s supreme court ruled.
The men, from Cambodia, Cuba, Vietnam and Yemen, were sent to the small southern African country, formerly known as Swaziland, in July despite having no connection to the country, as part of Donald Trump’s administration’s efforts to ramp up deportations.

NABATIEH (ANP/AFP/RTR) - Bij Israëlische aanvallen op de plaats Nabatieh en de omgeving zijn volgens Libanese media vrijdag rond de twintig doden gevallen, onder wie acht burgers. Bij een aanval op een overheidsgebouw kwamen dertien politiemensen om, meldt president Joseph Aoun. Nabatieh ligt circa 50 kilometer ten zuiden van Beiroet.
Tien kilometer noordelijker in Jbaa werd volgens het Libanese persbureau NNA een autowasserij door een Israëlisch bombardement getroffen. Daarbij zijn de eigenaar, zijn twee zoons en drie of vier anderen gedood.
De Libanese president Joseph Aoun heeft de Israëlische aanvallen veroordeeld en gezegd dat het aanvallen van overheidsgebouwen "Libanon er niet van weerhoudt om zijn soevereiniteit te verdedigen". Volgens premier Nawaf Salam onderstreept dit de noodzaak om snel tot een staakt-het-vuren te komen.
1900 doden
Israël claimt sinds de jongste aanvallen op Libanon zijn begonnen op 2 maart op 4300 plekken "de infrastructuur van de terroristen" te hebben verwoest in Libanon. Door Hezbollah op het noorden van Israël afgevuurde raketten waren de aanleiding voor de nieuwe aanvalsgolf op Libanon.
Een groot deel van het zuiden van Libanon is verwoest. Er zijn ongeveer 1900 doden gevallen en 6000 mensen raakten gewond. Ruim een miljoen mensen zijn ontheemd en op de vlucht geraakt.
De Iraanse parlementsvoorzitter zei dat er een staakt-het-vuren moet komen in Libanon voordat er onderhandelingen plaatsvinden met de Verenigde Staten. Volgens Iran en Pakistan geldt het staakt-het-vuren tussen Iran en de VS ook voor Libanon, maar Israël ontkent dat.
