NIJKERK (ANP) - De politie is een uitgebreid onderzoek begonnen naar de explosie vrijdagavond laat bij het Israëlcentrum in Nijkerk (Gelderland). Er is sporenonderzoek gedaan en zaterdag volgt een buurtonderzoek. Volgens de politie is gebleken dat een in het zwart geklede persoon het explosief bij het pand heeft geplaatst.

Agenten reden in de buurt toen ze rond 23.30 uur een knal hoorden en een lichtflits zagen, meldt de politie. In het pand was op dat moment niemand aanwezig. Er zijn geen gewonden gevallen en de schade bleef beperkt. De politie vraagt om informatie en om camerabeelden.

In het pand zetelt de stichting Christenen voor Israël. Die heeft geschokt gereageerd en spreekt in een verklaring op de website van een aanslag. Tegen Omroep Gelderland heeft directeur Frank van Oordt gezegd dat de stichting geen Joodse organisatie is. "Maar we worden er wel vaak aan gelieerd, omdat we achter Israël staan."

HILVERSUM (ANP) - De zesde en laatste nominatie voor de Woutertje Pieterse Prijs is het boek Krekel van Annet Schaap. Dat is zaterdag in het programma De Taalstaat (KRO-NCRV) bekendgemaakt op NPO Radio 1. De jaarlijkse prijs voor het beste kinderboek wordt op 11 april voor de 39e keer uitgereikt.

De andere genomineerde boeken, die allemaal verschenen tussen 1 januari en 31 december 2025, zijn Albatros van Yorick Goldewijk, Alle dingen die mijn opa stiekem is van Gerson Main & Hedy Tjin, Atman! van Bart Moeyaert en Mark Janssen, De oorsprong der Dingen van Jacques en Lise en Konijntjes op het kerkhof van Peer Wittenbols en Shamisa Debroey. Die nominaties werden eerder al bekendgemaakt.

Onder leiding van Rik van de Westelaken spreekt de jury het winnende boek uit tijdens een speciale radioaflevering vanuit het Literatuurmuseum/Kinderboekenmuseum in Den Haag.

Dit jaar kwamen er voor het eerst in jaren minder meldingen van wolven binnen bij organisatie Bij12. Of er simpelweg minder meldingen zijn, of betere maatregelen om wolven op afstand te houden, laten die cijfers niet zien.

The Artemis II crew has passed 100,000 miles from Earth and is now on a "free-return" path around the moon after a successful "translunar" injection burn. "Ladies and gentlemen, I am so, so excited to be able to tell you that for the first time since 1972 during Apollo 17, human beings have left Earth orbit," NASA's Dr Lori Glaze told a news conference. The Guardian reports: The astronauts -- the Americans Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, and a Canadian, Jeremy Hansen -- spent their first day in space performing checks on the spacecraft, which had never carried humans before. Later they had time to speak to US TV networks. "I've got to tell you, there is nothing normal about this," Wiseman told ABC News from the cramped interior of the capsule. "Sending four humans 250,000 miles away is a herculean effort, and we are now just realising the gravity of that."

Orion will travel about 4,000 miles (6,400km) beyond the moon before turning back, providing unprecedented and illuminated views of the lunar far side. If all proceeds smoothly, the astronauts will set a record by venturing farther from Earth than any human before -- more than 250,000 miles. The mission is part of a longer-term plan to repeatedly return to the moon, with the aim of establishing a permanent base that will offer a platform for further exploration. After the final engine burn, NASA said Wiseman took two "spectacular" images of Earth.

The first photo, called Hello, World, "shows the vast expanse of blue that is the Atlantic Ocean, framed by a thin glow of the atmosphere as the Earth eclipses the Sun and green auroras at either pole," reports the BBC. Another photo shows the view of Earth from inside the Orion spacecraft.
