LEEUWARDEN (ANP) - Alle BBB-fracties in Friesland vinden dat de partij "terug naar de kern" moet. De fracties in de Provinciale Staten en het waterschap (Wetterskip Fryslân) hebben samen met de BBB'ers in de acht Friese gemeenten waar de partij meedoet aan de raadsverkiezingen een statement gepubliceerd over de ontstane "onrust" over de koers van de BoerBurgerBeweging. Oud-vicepremier Mona Keijzer verliet de BBB omdat niet zij, maar Henk Vermeer boegbeeld Caroline van der Plas opvolgt als partijleider in de Tweede Kamer.

"Het raakt ons dat hierdoor onduidelijkheid is ontstaan over de koers van onze partij", aldus de Friese afdelingen. Ze vinden dat de BBB "koersvast" moet blijven. "Voor ons is de BBB de partij die opkomt voor de regio, zich sterk maakt voor de leefbaarheid op het platteland en knokt voor de belangen van alle burgers, boeren, tuinders en vissers. Die partij is hard nodig: in Den Haag, in Europa, in de provincie, het waterschap en in de gemeenten."

DEN HAAG (ANP) - VNO-NCW en MKB-Nederland constateren dat mensen steeds vaker niets van hun schulden hoeven terug te betalen. Daar zijn ondernemers "de dupe van", stellen de ondernemersorganisaties. Ze waarschuwen de Tweede Kamer dat dit de nieuwe norm dreigt te worden. Brancheorganisatie voor schuldhulpverlening NVVK is verbaasd over de oproep.

Ondernemersorganisaties wijzen op de vijfprocentregeling. Daarin is wettelijk vastgelegd dat een schuldenaar minimaal 5 procent van het inkomen moet afdragen. Daar kan sinds 1 juli 2024 van worden afgeweken in uitzonderlijke situaties. Maar VNO-NCW en MKB-Nederland vinden dat dit te vaak gebeurt. Zij wijzen op cijfers van de NVVK dat inmiddels 1 op de 3 schulden van natuurlijke personen volledig wordt kwijtgescholden. Volgens de NVVK ligt dit genuanceerder en is het cijfer in werkelijkheid iets lager.

De NVVK snapt verder weinig van de oproep van de ondernemersclubs. "Let wel: iedereen die kan betalen, moet ook betalen", zegt beleidscoördinator Joeri Eijzenbach.

JERUZALEM (ANP/AFP) - Een groep internationale hulporganisaties is naar het Israëlische Hooggerechtshof gestapt om een verbod op hun activiteiten in Gaza en op de Westelijke Jordaanoever tegen te houden. Bij de indiening van het verzoekschrift waarschuwen de organisaties voor de "catastrofale gevolgen" die het verbod kan hebben voor burgers.

Ngo's waaronder Artsen Zonder Grenzen, Oxfam, de Noorse Vluchtelingenraad en Care kregen eind vorig jaar van Israël te horen dat hun vergunningen verliepen en dat ze zestig dagen de tijd kregen om hun werkzaamheden in de Palestijnse gebieden af te ronden. Vergunningen konden alleen worden vernieuwd als ze persoonlijke informatie vrijgaven over buitenlandse en Palestijnse medewerkers.

In het verzoekschrift vragen zeventien organisaties, waaronder enkele van de getroffen ngo's, het hoogste gerechtshof om het Israëlische besluit op te schorten.

Thirteen books make this year’s longlist for translated fiction, which awards a first prize of £50,000

Olga Ravn, Daniel Kehlmann, Ia Genberg, Mathias Énard and Gabriela Cabezón Cámara are among those longlisted for the 10th International Booker prize, which recognises the best translated fiction published in the past year.

A “Booker dozen” of 13 books were longlisted for this year’s prize. One author-translator pair will win £50,000, to be split equally.

Resistance from below has taken a lot of different forms, and this is where Nat Raha's work on trans social reproduction is important, looking at the different ways that trans people have created the possibilities of transness through bold, interpersonal, embodied work, but also through building the kind of community that's necessary to live through a struggle against the normative, and to survive in the most basic senses. That community building that's there in a bunch of different ways in trans and queer struggles is building on possibilities and needs that are particular to their struggles, but creates possibilities for realization that extend way beyond queer and trans communities. "I find it shocking that some people on the left are saying what we need to do in the face of Trump and the far Right is to get back to a more narrow, class-centric politics, or that the Left has been subsumed by wokeness. Whatever the language, these perspectives are failing to defend the most basic trans rights. If you just look at who Trump, among others, is attacking, it becomes necessary to reflect on what it means for us to think about migrant rights, trans rights, workers' rights, and so on at the same time. I think that there's something about the utopian perspective that allows us to think open-endedly about how these things are not zero-sum games cast against one another, but that we are talking about a broader process of human becoming of which all these issues are a part."
