DEN HAAG (ANP) - De Australische motorracer Senna Agius maakt in 2027 de overstap naar de MotoGP. De 20-jarige Agius gaat rijden voor KTM-team Tech3. Hij komt dit seizoen uit in de Moto2.

"Wij geloven dat Senna de kwaliteiten bezit om het goed te gaan doen in de MotoGP. Hij heeft in de Moto2 indrukwekkende snelheid en volwassenheid getoond, maar wat ons vooral opviel, was zijn vastberadenheid om te blijven verbeteren", zegt teamdirecteur Günther Steiner in een persbericht.

Agius won dit seizoen twee races in de Moto2 en staat vierde in het WK. Hij wordt bij Tech3 teamgenoot van de Italiaan Luca Marini.

AMSTERDAM (ANP) - De AEX-index is woensdag met een kleine winst begonnen. Beleggers kijken vooral uit naar het rentebesluit in de Verenigde Staten. De Amerikaanse Federal Reserve gaat naar verwachting na sluiting van de Europese markten de leenkosten in de grootste economie verhogen om de inflatie te bestrijden. Het zou de eerste renteverhoging zijn sinds juli 2023 en de eerste rentewijziging onder Fed-voorzitter Kevin Warsh.

Beleggers zijn met name benieuwd wat Warsh, die door president Donald Trump is uitgekozen, gaat zeggen over toekomstige rentestappen. Trump vindt dat de Amerikaanse leenkosten de laagste ter wereld zouden moeten zijn. Hij had veel kritiek op Warshs voorganger Jerome Powell, omdat die de rente niet wilde verlagen.

De Amsterdamse hoofdindex noteerde kort na opening van de markt 0,3 procent hoger op 1098,83 punten. De MidKap klom ook 0,3 procent, tot 1087,31 punten. De beurzen in Frankfurt, Londen en Parijs wonnen tot 0,4 procent.

Frankrijk is bereid tot steun aan de kandidatuur van Klaas Knot om president van de Europese Centrale Bank (ECB) te worden. Voorwaarde is wel dat een andere invloedrijke post, die van ECB-hoofdeconoom, naar een Franse kandidaat gaat. Dat meldt persbureau Reuters op basis van ingewijden.

Knot was tot vorig jaar president van De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). Hij bekleedde die functie veertien jaar lang. Hij wordt al langer genoemd als mogelijke opvolger van de Française Christine Lagarde. Haar termijn loopt nog tot in oktober volgend jaar. Er zijn ook geruchten dat ze mogelijk eerder stopt. De termijn van ECB-hoofdeconoom Philip Lane loopt in mei af.

Knot is niet de enige kanshebber voor de toppositie. Voormalig baas van de Spaanse centrale bank Pablo Hernández de Cos wordt gezien als Knots belangrijkste rivaal. Volgens Reuters hoopt Frankrijk met zijn plan het hoofdeconoomschap voor zichzelf op te eisen. Maar dit kan op felle weerstand vanuit Duitsland stuiten. In Berlijn zou eveneens interesse zijn in die post.

Ja ok N=1 (oh nee, 3, 4, and counting) maar dit zijn geluiden van VVD'ers met een netwerk in de partij dus zie het als een muis die we over de digitale Twittervloer zien lopen, waardoor we weten dat er nog veel meer in de scheuren van het tere vaasje van Mark Rutte wonen. Wat we met deze metafoor die ongeveer net zo lekker loopt als het minderheidscampagne willen zeggen: er klinkt GEROMMEL binnen de VVD. En het is een keer niet vanwege asiel, maar vanwege het middelpunt van de #tochmaarweervvd-campagne, te weten de hardwerkende Nederlander. Die moet namelijk weer betalen wat hij altijd moet betalen: de rekening voor allemaal onzin. Volgens de Raad van State (en die heeft het van het CPB, advies hierrr) is 5,8 miljard van de 6 miljard euro aan lastenverzwaringen belasting op arbeid. Ondertussen is de fractie van de VVD ontzettend druk met box 3. Ook erg, maar toch vooral een resultaat van bestuurlijk onvermogen (en losgeslagen rechters). Je zou haast gaan denken dat de VVD er alleen maar is voor rijke patsers die de hele dag op hun luie reet zitten! Extra veel zin in de APB nu.

The first women’s Lions will play three Tests against the Black Ferns and two tour matches next September, with Sky expected to broadcast all five fixtures.
