AMSTERDAM (ANP) - KLM verwacht vrijdag weer naar Dubai te vliegen. Vluchten naar de Israëlische hoofdstad Tel Aviv gaan voorlopig nog niet door. Dat meldt een woordvoerder van de luchtvaartmaatschappij. Vorige week vrijdag maakte KLM bekend meerdere luchtruimen in het Midden-Oosten te mijden vanwege de "geopolitieke situatie".

KLM hervatte dinsdag al de vluchten naar Riyadh en Dammam in Saudi-Arabië. Wanneer de luchtvaartmaatschappij ook weer naar Israël vliegt, is niet duidelijk. "Op basis van de actuele veiligheidssituatie en de operationele haalbaarheid hebben we besloten onze vluchten naar Tel Aviv vooralsnog niet te hervatten", laat een woordvoerder weten.

Alle passagiers die hinder hebben ondervonden van de geannuleerde vluchten naar het Midden-Oosten, zijn inmiddels omgeboekt, meldt KLM. Reizigers die liever niet meer willen vliegen, kunnen een terugbetaling van de vlucht aanvragen.

Gemeentelijke afvaldiensten wonnen marktaandeel door een verkeerde opvatting van de Aanbestedingswet. Dat blijkt uit een oordeel van het Europees Hof.

Video shows the Hudson frozen partially frozen near the George Washington Bridge in New York City after a heavy winter snowstorm. Eight people were found dead outside over the frigid weekend in the city, according to officials, as New York experienced its snowiest day in years, with neighbourhoods recording 20-38cm (8-15in) of snow. Over the weekend at least 30 deaths were linked to a winter storm that hit North America's north-east. Some regions may not see temperatures rise above freezing until early February.
