MOUNTAIN VIEW (ANP) - Google-moeder Alphabet gaat dit jaar nog veel meer geld investeren in toepassingen rond kunstmatige intelligentie. Het bedrijf zei bij de bekendmaking van de cijfers over het vierde kwartaal en 2025 dat de kapitaalinvesteringen in 2026 zullen uitkomen tussen de 175 miljard en 185 miljard dollar.
"We zien dat onze AI-investeringen en infrastructuur de omzet en groei overal aanjagen", aldus topman Sundar Pichai. Volgens hem zijn de hogere investeringen nodig om aan de vraag van klanten te voldoen en om de mogelijkheden te benutten die Alphabet ziet komen in de toekomst.
De omzet bedroeg afgelopen kwartaal 113,8 miljard dollar. Dat is 18 procent meer dan een jaar eerder. Over heel 2025 werd een omzet behaald van 402,8 miljard dollar. Het is voor het eerst dat de jaaromzet van Alphabet de 400 miljard dollar overschrijdt, zei Pichai in de toelichting.
