​Na eerdere waarschuwingen over kinderarbeid en uitbuiting, slaat de kinderombudsman opnieuw alarm over kinderen uit vlogfamilies. Zo zou er een familie bereid zijn om één van hun kinderen ritueel te offeren aan het algoritme. Volgens juicekanalen gaat het om de Bellinga’s, bij wie vader Daniel Bellinga op dit moment afweegt welk kind het minst gemist zal worden door de abonnees. In ruil voor het offer zouden de Bellinga’s gezegend worden met zeven jaar aan mooie engagement-cijfers op de socials.

In veel oude culturen probeerden mensen al met offers om onverklaarbare verschijnselen te beïnvloeden of bovennatuurlijke krachten gunstig te stemmen. Volgens experts is het idee van een mensenoffer aan zoiets grilligs en ongrijpbaars als het algoritme op sociale media ‘menselijk, maar niet per se wenselijk’. Ook zeggen zij dat een ritueel offer, met alle symbolische gruwelheden van dien om het algoritme tevreden te stellen, geen garantie geeft op meer likes en shares.

Op social media zijn er uiteenlopende reacties te lezen over de geruchten rondom het mogelijke rituele offer van de Bellinga’s. Veel content creators zeggen dat ze het ook gekmakend vinden dat de ene video duizenden views krijgt terwijl de andere video niet verder komt dan 100 weergaven, en dat ze daardoor de vader van de Bellinga’s deels wel begrijpen. Tegelijkertijd is er ook een sceptische groep mensen die betwijfelt of één volgroeide Luan Bellinga überhaupt wel een groot genoeg offer is om zeven vruchtbare jaren veilig te stellen.

Dakotaraptor, a fossilized skeleton of which was discovered a little more than 20 years ago by paleontologists in South Dakota, was an extremely lethal prehistoric predator. Its feathered body, powerful legs, and huge jaw gave it an advantage as it roamed its territory some 66 million years ago. But it was really its so-called “sickle claw,” a huge, taloned toe that measures 9.5 inches on the outer curve.

For artist Grant Garmezy, the ancient creature presented a unique opportunity to render a life-size sculptural version. Specializing in meticulously detailed, accurate representations of nature in glass, he took on the challenge of recreating the Dakotaraptor’s 14-foot length from snout to tail.

“The fossil record leaves much to interpretation, as details like feathers and posture remain a matter of scientific debate,” says a statement from GRANADA Gallery, which supported the artist in the project. “This uncertainty mirrors the artistry of the project itself, where each form is a choice, a vision, and a reimagining of prehistory.”

After years of court action and complaints, trademark office in Spain rules name is counter to ‘public order and morality’

A Spanish restaurant chain called The Mafia Sits at the Table may soon have to change its name after the country’s patent and trademark office heeded objections from the Italian government and ruled that the brand’s nomenclature ran counter to “both public order and morality”.

Italy has pursued its claim against the chain – known in Spanish as La Mafia se sienta a la mesa – through various courts and official bodies over the past few years, alleging that the name trivialises both organised crime and efforts to fight it.

TEHERAN (ANP) - De ondergrondse bunker van de voormalige Iraanse opperste leider ayatollah Ali Khamenei is vrijdagochtend door de Israëlische luchtmacht vernietigd, meldt het leger volgens The Times of Israel.

Ongeveer vijftig gevechtsvliegtuigen van de luchtmacht wierpen zo'n honderd bommen af op de bunker die zich volgens het leger onder het Iraanse "leiderschapscomplex" in Teheran bevond. "De ondergrondse bunker was gebouwd onder het complex en diende als veilige locatie van waaruit leiding kon worden gegeven, maar de leider werd uitgeschakeld voordat hij hem kon gebruiken", aldus het leger.

Het leiderschapscomplex strekt zich uit over meerdere straten en heeft een groot aantal ingangen en ruimtes voor bijeenkomsten van hooggeplaatste functionarissen van het Iraanse regime. Onder meer het presidentiële bureau en het hoofdkwartier van de Iraanse Hoge Nationale Veiligheidsdienst zijn in het complex gevestigd. Na de dood van Khamenei zaterdag bleef het complex volgens Israël in gebruik door hoge functionarissen van het regime.
