A western Texas fracker starring in a podcast about how his attempted moonlighting as a handyman turned into lucrative sex work largely solicited by distracted oil industry professionals’ housewives says he believes his region’s repressive sexual attitudes gave his side gig an opening to flourish.

“There’s an inherent kind of self-denial,” the subject of The Handyman of West Texas, identified only as Mickey, said in a recent interview. “We all have these thoughts. But we lie to ourselves and try to conform to … how you’re supposed to be repressing your own pleasure.”

BAALBEK/NABI CHIT (ANP/AFP/RTR) - Bij Israëlische luchtaanvallen en een aanval met commando's, die met vier helikopters werden aangevoerd, zijn volgens Libanese media zeker 26 doden gevallen in het oosten van Libanon. Gevreesd wordt dat het dodental oploopt.

Israël bombardeerde Nabi Chit, circa 50 kilometer ten oosten van Beiroet. De plaats werd in de nacht van vrijdag op zaterdag ook genaderd door Israëlische commando's die met helikopters landden en vermoedelijk in een vuurgevecht verwikkeld raakten met burgers en met Hezbollahstrijders. Het Israëlische leger heeft zaterdag bevestigd dat de operatie te maken had met de zoektocht naar de in 1986 verdwenen Israëlische piloot Ron Arad. Er is niks van belang gevonden in Nabi Chit.

De militairen trokken zich na enige tijd terug en vertrokken met hun toestellen. Dergelijke luchtlandingsoperaties worden voor zover bekend zelden door Israël in Libanon uitgevoerd. De operatie was ongeveer 70 kilometer van de Israëlische noordgrens.

Bij een Russische raketaanval op de Oekraïense stad Charkiv in de nacht van vrijdag op zaterdag zijn zeker zeven doden gevallen, onder wie twee kinderen.
