KOBLENZ (ANP/DPA/BELGA) - Volgens de politie hebben fragmenten van een meteoriet daken en huizen beschadigd in verschillende delen van de Zuidwest-Duitse deelstaat Rijnland-Palts.

Schademeldingen zijn onder andere binnengekomen uit de regio Hunsrück, het Eifelgebergte en Koblenz, aldus een politiewoordvoerder. Een aanvankelijk onbekend lichtverschijnsel trok zondagavond de aandacht van veel mensen in het westen van Duitsland. Ooggetuigen meldden het incident op sociale media.

Ook in grote delen van België waren meldingen van een grote lichtflits aan de hemel. De lichtflits, die leek op een vuurbol, was drie seconden te zien, aldus persbureau Belga. Het gaat waarschijnlijk om een meteorietsteentje dat op de dampkring is gebotst en uit elkaar is gespat, zei Marc Van den Broeck van Volkssterrenwacht Urania.

In Nederland meldden mensen vanuit verschillende delen van het land via sociale media dat ze zondagavond rond 19.00 uur een soort vuurbol hadden gezien in de lucht.

Like with prior times where there are wild drops in Linux use, the Steam Survey shows Simplified Chinese use running up by 30% month over month. Whenever there is such significant differences in language use tends to be a reporting anomaly and negatively impacting Linux. Valve often puts out corrected/updated figures later on, so we'll see if that is again the case for this February data.
