STUTTGART (ANP/DPA) - De Groenen hebben in de Duitse deelstaat Baden-Württemberg een nipte overwinning behaald op de CDU van bondskanselier Friedrich Merz. Volgens de maandagochtend gepubliceerde voorlopige uitslag behaalden de Groenen 30,2 procent van de stemmen tegenover 29,7 procent voor de CDU.

De steun voor het radicaal-rechtse Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) steeg naar 18,8 procent, bijna een verdubbeling ten opzichte van de verkiezingen in 2021 maar een lagere uitslag dan het doel van 20 procent. De sociaaldemocratische SPD eindigde vierde met 5,5 procent van de stemmen, het slechtste resultaat van de partij ooit in een Duitse deelstaatverkiezing.

De opkomst in Baden-Württemberg, in het zuidwesten van Duitsland, was met 69,6 procent hoog. Het waren de eerste verkiezingen in de deelstaat sinds de wijziging van de kieswet waarmee de kiesgerechtigde leeftijd werd verlaagd naar 16 jaar.

There are urgent calls for Australia to take action before the team return to Iran but with no word from the players themselves the situation is fraught and uncertain

These are the women of the Iran football team, who are at the centre of an international diplomatic incident, even as the US and Israel rain missiles down on their family back home.

Local news outlets report the pop star is unharmed after ‘approximately 10 shots’ were fired from a vehicle across the street

A woman allegedly fired numerous shots into the Beverly ​Hills home of Rihanna on Sunday, and a round went through a wall ​of the house, local news ​outlets reported.

The Los Angeles Times ⁠and NBC4, citing a ​Los Angeles police spokesperson, reported ​that authorities responded to the shooting at 1.21pm on Sunday and detained ​a 30-year-old female suspect.
