Voetbalfans die bij het aanstaande WK-voetbal verkoeling zoeken met een drankje, moeten de portemonnee trekken.

GIETEN (ANP) - De Drentse gemeente Aa en Hunze, waar Gieten onderdeel van is, vangt de komende nachten opnieuw asielzoekers op afkomstig van aanmeldcentrum Ter Apel. Dat meldt de gemeente op haar website. De opvang gebeurt in sporthal De Goorns in Gieten. De gemeente doet dat op nadrukkelijk verzoek van minister Bart van den Brink van Asiel en Migratie. "De groep komt laat in de avond aan en vertrekt voor 7 uur 's ochtends naar het aanmeldcentrum in Ter Apel."

Burgemeester Anno Wietze Hiemstra: "We vinden het belangrijk dat mensen niet in het gras bij het aanmeldcentrum hoeven te slapen. Door de tijdelijke nachtopvang in onze gemeente wordt de gemeente Westerwolde ontlast, maar natuurlijk hopen we op een snelle, structurele oplossing. Wij organiseren deze nachtopvang in nauwe samenwerking met het Rode Kruis."

Het is nog niet duidelijk hoeveel nachten Gieten de nachtopvang verzorgt.
