DEN HAAG (ANP) - Het aantal plofkraken in Nederland is volgens de politie aanzienlijk gestegen: van vier in 2025 naar vijftien in 2026. Daarbij is geteld tot 14 mei. In 2024 waren er negen gevallen, in 2023 acht.

De aandacht van daders lijkt volgens een politiewoordvoerder te verschuiven van klassieke plofkraken op geldautomaten naar sealbagautomaten, waarin ondernemers geld kunnen afstorten.

De politie probeert het, samen met Geldmaat, het netwerk van geldautomaten in Nederland, criminelen onmogelijk te maken plofkraken op sealbagautomaten te plegen. Telkens als het gebeurt, is er volgens de woordvoerder veel schade en impact voor de buurt. De politie doet dan uitgebreid onderzoek.

Criminoloog Jasper van der Kemp van de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam onderschrijft dat daders nu vooral sealbagautomaten als doelwit hebben. "Er wordt meer vuurwerk en explosief materiaal gebruikt dan voorheen. De risico's die daarbij horen, worden voor lief genomen."

DEIR QANOUN EN-NAHR (ANP) - Bij Israëlische aanvallen op twee plaatsen in het zuiden van Libanon zijn in totaal tien doden gevallen, meldt het Libanese ministerie van Gezondheid. In de plaats Deir Qanoun en-Nahr vielen zes slachtoffers, onder wie twee hulpverleners en een kind. Daarnaast kwamen vier hulpverleners om bij een aanval op Hanawiya, zegt het ministerie.

Bij de aanvallen zouden ook meerdere gewonden zijn gevallen. In Deir Qanoun en-Nahr ging het om zes gewonden, onder wie drie hulpverleners. Volgens het Libanese persbureau NNA waren de hulpverleners ter plaatse vanwege een eerdere aanval. In Hanawiya zou een hulpverlener onder de twee gewonden zijn. Het ministerie zegt dat zij alleen spullen bij zich hadden om eerste hulp te verlenen en geen militaire uitrusting.

Het ministerie beschuldigt Israël van het schenden van het internationaal recht en het staakt-het-vuren. Dat bestand werd in april gesloten door vertegenwoordigers van beide landen bij zeldzame directe onderhandelingen.

A large swathe of western Europe is bracing for the first significant heat event of the summer, with temperatures forecast to rise to more than 10C above the norm and new monthly records for May expected to be set in possibly hundreds of places.

Temperatures across Portugal, Spain, France and the UK were expected to exceed 30C (86F) on Friday and into next week, reaching 32C in Paris and London and 35C in south-west France, with highs of up to 38C in the Guadiana and Guadalquivir regions of Spain.
