Van de Opwekking-jongeren uit het christendom krijg je geen geweld maar BELEID, zoals de ChristenUnie in Rutte-III en -IV, met zo'n Paul Blokhuis die als staatssecretaris VWS allerlei stichtelijke kutregels bedacht omdat Jezus Het Zo Gewild Zou Hebben. Misschien nog wel erger dan Bataclan. 60.000 knakkers die iets te goed hebben opgelet in de Witte Tent, kinderen die niet uit de kast durven te komen omdat het niet mag van De Heer, allemaal dagdromen over traditionele rolpatronen en 's avonds stiekem met een poster van Carola Schouten waar een gat in is geknipt naar de tent. Opwekking 2026, het was godverrrrrrredomme weer geweldig.

Former husband of Nicola Sturgeon admits reduced charges in court after deal with prosecutors

Peter Murrell, the former chief executive of the Scottish National party, has pleaded guilty to charges of embezzling more than £400,000 from the party after agreeing a deal with prosecutors.

He appeared in the high court in Edinburgh on Monday after being charged last year with stealing to fund an expensive lifestyle including a Jaguar car, a luxury motorhome, a luxury pen and women’s cosmetics.

Before we get to today’s action, a recap on what went down on day one. An emotional Emma Raducanu was at a loss to explain her horror start at the French Open as she crashed to a first opening-round loss.

The British No 1 failed to win a game in a one-sided opening set against Argentina’s Solana Sierra, hitting zero winners and making 15 unforced errors. Raducanu looked like she could be heading for one of the worst defeats of her career when she trailed 4-1 in the second set but she found a belated foothold, fighting back to force a tie-break before losing 6-0 7-6 (4).

"Think Olympics on steroids. Literally," quips the BBC, describing Sunday's controversial Enhanced Games event in Las Vegas featuring dozens of athletes "using performance-enhancing drugs to try and break world records in track, weightlifting and swimming.

Some $25m (£18.6m) in prize money is up for grabs — with cash prizes for winners... The drugs they use must be legal, and approved by the Federal Drug Administration. But substances like testosterone and human growth hormone — banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency — are not only celebrated here, they're encouraged and for sale...
Health experts warn that anabolic steroids and growth hormones can cause strokes and cardiovascular damage, among other risks. Event organisers claim Enhanced will push the limits of human performance while critics, especially in the Olympic movement, dismiss it as an affront to the spirit and founding principles of competitive sport...
Earlier this month, the Enhanced Group — the company behind the competition — began trading on the New York Stock Exchange. And the competition is seemingly being treated as an opportunity for Enhanced to sell performance-enhancing medicine and supplements online.

"The project was founded by entrepreneurs Aron D'Souza and Maximilian Martin in 2023," the artidcle points out, "and has attracted backing from prominent investors including billionaire Peter Thiel and Donald Trump Jr."

And NPR adds that "Most of the participating athletes trained for the competition in Abu Dhabi, as part of Enhanced's own study."



Enhanced did not break down what specific athletes used which drugs, but they announced on Wednesday in the lead-up to the event that 91% of the athletes competing used testosterone or testosterone esters, 79% used human growth hormone, and 62% used stimulants, such as adderall...

The games have been largely panned by outside medical experts and sports governing bodies. Multiple recent studies assess the harm surrounding the Enhanced Games. Travis Tygart, the CEO of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, called the games a "dangerous clown show that puts profit over principle" in a statement. The International Olympic Committee said the games are a "betrayal of everything that we stand for." The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) last year urged U.S. authorities to stop the games. The International Federation of Sports Medicine said in 2024 that they see the medical oversight as "insufficient" to support the
athletes.

Zomerdagen worden elk jaar een beetje warmer en voor je het weet staat de thermometer binnen boven de 27 graden. Airco lijkt dan de makkelijkste oplossing, maar die slurpt stroom en maakt de buitenlucht op termijn nóg warmer. Gelukkig kun je je huis ook zonder airconditioning verrassend comfortabel houden.

In deze blog lees je hoe je met een paar slimme gewoontes en wat eenvoudige ingrepen je woning veel koeler houdt – goed voor je energieverbruik én voor het klimaat.

1. Houd de warmte overdag buiten

De belangrijkste truc: voorkóm dat de warmte binnenkomt. Is het buiten warmer dan binnen, dan werkt je huis als een soort thermosfles – alles wat je binnen laat, raak je moeilijk kwijt.

• Houd ramen en buitendeuren overdag zoveel mogelijk dicht zodra de buitentemperatuur hoger is dan binnen.
• Sluit gordijnen, lamellen, screens of rolluiken aan de zonzijde, zeker op het zuiden en westen.
• Buitenzonwering is het meest effectief, omdat de zon het glas dan niet opwarmt.

Heb je geen zonnescherm, dan helpt een wit laken of een licht schaduwdoek voor het raam ook om de felste straling te weerkaatsen.

2. Ventileer op het juiste moment

Ventilatie is belangrijk, maar timing is alles. Ongepland “lekker doortochten” midden op de dag haalt juist extra hete lucht naar binnen.

• Zet ’s avonds en ’s ochtends vroeg alle ramen en deuren tegen elkaar open, zodat de koele lucht kan doorstromen en je huis kan afkoelen.
• Doe alles weer dicht zodra het buiten begint op te warmen; een simpel buitenthermometertje helpt om dat moment te bepalen.
• In een woning met meerdere verdiepingen: open beneden én een dakraam boven, zodat warme lucht kan opstijgen en naar buiten kan.

Heb je mechanische ventilatie, zet die hoger als het buiten koeler is dan binnen, en juist lager als het buiten snikheet is.

3. Beperk warmtelekken in huis

Veel warmte komt van je eigen apparaten. Koken, drogen, tv-kijken en stofzuigen leveren onverwacht veel extra graden op.

• Gebruik oven, fornuis en wasdroger zo min mogelijk op de heetste uren; kies voor koude gerechten, barbecue buiten of hang de was buiten te drogen.
• Zet apparaten die je niet nodig hebt echt uit in plaats van op stand‑by.
• Vervang gloeilampen en halogeen door ledlampen; die geven veel minder warmte af.

Hoe minder interne warmtebronnen, hoe makkelijker je huis koel blijft.

4. Haal meer uit ventilatoren

Een ventilator koelt de lucht niet, maar laat zweet sneller verdampen waardoor je lichaam beter kan afkoelen.

• Richt een ventilator ’s avonds naar een open raam of deuropening om warme lucht naar buiten te blazen.
• Zet een bak met ijsblokjes of bevroren flessen water voor de ventilator voor extra frisse lucht.
• In de slaapkamer kan een ventilator op lage stand samen met nachtventilatie een paar graden comfortwinst geven.

Het energieverbruik van een ventilator is bovendien vele malen lager dan dat van een airco.

5. Denk aan groen en isolatie voor de lange termijn

Voor volgende zomers kun je je huis structureel beter bestand maken tegen hitte. Dat vraagt wat meer planning, maar levert blijvende winst op.

• Planten, bomen en gevelgroen zorgen voor natuurlijke schaduw en verdamping, waardoor de temperatuur rond je woning daalt.
• Een groendak of licht (wit) dakreflectiemateriaal houdt een plat dak veel koeler.
• Goede isolatie helpt niet alleen in de winter, maar houdt in de zomer de warmte juist buiten, zeker in combinatie met zonwerend glas en zonwering.

Combineer je dat met het juiste ventilatie‑ritme, dan blijft je woning ook bij een hittegolf langer aangenaam.

FRANKFURT (ANP/BLOOMBERG) - Een miljardenbod van taxi- en maaltijdbezorgapp Uber op de Duitse maaltijdbezorger Delivery Hero zorgt voor speculatie onder beleggers. Uber kwam dit weekend met een bod waarbij het bedrijf wordt gewaardeerd op 10 miljard euro. De beurskoers van Delivery Hero is maandag op de beurs in Frankfurt evenwel voorbij die waarde gegaan, omdat beleggers erop gokken dat er een hogere prijs nodig is om de deal rond te krijgen.

Het aandeel noteerde in de ochtendhandel een plus van 11 procent op 37,32 euro, ruim boven Ubers bod van 33 euro per aandeel. Uber bezit al een belang van bijna 20 procent in Delivery Hero, maar wil het bedrijf helemaal inlijven. Volgens zakenkrant Financial Times vinden sommige grote investeerders het bod echter te laag.

Of de overnamepoging kan slagen, is sowieso onzeker. Analisten van Barclays denken dat een samensmelting van Uber Eats en Delivery Hero hoe dan ook op serieuze mededingingsbezwaren in Brussel stuit. Ook het Amerikaanse DoorDash heeft interesse getoond in delen van Delivery Hero.

A French SRE has given Amazon, Google, and Microsoft until September to fix cloud lock-in or face an endless barrage of AI-generated protest songs, satirical poetry, and Finnish polka. Amine Raiti, an infrastructure architect and SRE currently working at a European Central Bank-regulated financial institution, has launched what may be the least conventional anti-cloud campaign in enterprise IT history: a multilingual pressure operation called “Operation Dindon,” complete with satirical poetry, orchestral music, K-pop, and a fictional turkey trapped in cloud dependency. His demands are fairly simple: let companies cancel multi-year cloud commitments when business tanks, stop charging eye-watering egress fees to move customer data around, and make it possible to leave proprietary cloud services without detonating the IT budget. Speaking to The Register, Raiti claims one AWS NAT Gateway setup costs roughly €6,700 ($7,777) annually for functionality that Linux admins have been handling with iptables since the late 1990s. He also points to managed Kubernetes pricing he says can exceed €14,000 ($16,251) a year. Complaints about hyperscaler pricing usually stay confined to conversations between infrastructure teams, the occasional furious LinkedIn post, regulators and Reg readers. Raiti took a slightly different approach, producing a 14-part satirical series called The Legend of Dindon, centered around a fictional turkey who locks himself into cloud dependency and cannot escape, with each episode targeting a different cloud pricing or lock-in practice. Episodes include The Managed Mirage, The Highway to Hell (The AWS NAT Gateway Autopsy), and The Turkey Who Plucked Himself in the Cloud, proving that cloud resentment has finally evolved into performance art. From there, the campaign evolves from LinkedIn storytelling into a formal public ultimatum aimed directly at the hyperscalers. Earlier this month, Raiti published what he calls an “Iron Ultimatum” in 11 languages directed at the three hyperscalers. If they agree to meaningful reforms, he says he will publish a celebratory “Diwan” praising their wisdom. If not, the AI-generated campaign continues indefinitely. According to Raiti, Operation Dindon now includes 50 AI-generated songs spanning opera, gospel, K-pop, sea shanties, Finnish polka, Raï, and Chopin nocturnes, all allegedly produced in around two minutes per track for less than €50 a month. Raiti says the idea for Operation Dindon came from his time in infrastructure leadership roles at a French adtech company. He says the business was tied to multi-year cloud commitments that continued even as revenues fell and staff were laid off. Raiti does not directly accuse the cloud providers of causing the layoffs and describes the account as his own view of events. But he says that watching cloud costs continue to tick along while jobs disappeared was the point when vendor lock-in stopped sounding like an abstract IT problem. The hyperscalers haven’t publicly responded. There are still several months remaining before the September deadline, giving the industry plenty of time to prepare for the possibility that the next phase of cloud criticism may arrive in the form of AI-generated sea shanties about vendor lock-in. ®
