The Pakistani foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, said he spoke with his Iranian and Singaporean counterparts about repatriating crew members on ships seized by the US.

He asked the Singaporean foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan for help repatriating “11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian seafarers, aboard vessels seized by US authorities and currently near Singaporean waters”, Dar wrote in a post on X, without specifying which ships the crew were on.

Temperature swings have left crops across the Plains in terrible conditions, with some farmers opting not to harvest

Merrill Nielsen’s wheat crop looked healthy after he planted it in the fall on his 2,500-acre farm in north-central Kansas, about 50 miles west of Salina, the plants benefiting from higher-than-normal November rainfall.

But an abnormally warm and dry winter, followed by extreme temperature variability, stressed the developing wheat. In the winter-to-spring transition, temperatures fluctuated from 70 to 80F on some days and lows in the teens or low 20s on other days.

Iedereen in Nederland krijgt binnenkort een rol met kortingstickers. Dat maakte het kabinet vandaag bekend. Op deze manier kan de koopkracht van iedere Nederlander iets verbeteren op de korte termijn.

​Bij het partijkantoor van D66 in Den Haag is gister een vuurwerkbom door de brievenbus gegooid. Dit zorgde voor grote schade aan de binnenkant van het pand en schrik bij de mensen die op dat moment afwezig waren. Een ‘vrij kansloze actie’, zei premier Rob Jetten in een reactie, maar wanneer is een vuurwerkbom door de brievenbus wél de oplossing?

“In dit geval in ieder geval niet. Daar zijn veel mensen het wel over eens. Maar wanneer dus wel? Dat is de vraag die nu op tafel ligt en daar heb ik onderzoek naar gedaan”, zegt bedreigings- en vandalisme-expert Bert Bokhoven. “Het korte antwoord is: nergens. Het lange antwoord ook. Daar zijn we na een lang literatuuronderzoek op uitgekomen.”

Bokhoven vervolgt: “Een eerder bekend voorbeeld is Vlissingen. Dat zullen veel mensen zich nog wel herinneren en ook daar bleek een vuurwerkbom door de brievenbus toen niet de oplossing.”
