WASHINGTON (ANP/RTR) - Volgens de Amerikaanse vicepresident JD Vance zijn de onderhandelaars van Iran en de Verenigde Staten "er nog niet helemaal uit". Aan verslaggevers in Washington vertelde Vance dat de partijen wel bijna akkoord zijn.
De vicepresident zei daarbij dat de VS vanuit hun positie het nucleaire programma van Teheran aanzienlijk kunnen afremmen. Er zouden nog enkele knelpunten in de onderhandelingen zijn rond Teherans voorraad verrijkt uranium en rond de kwestie van verrijking. Ook wordt er nog onderhandeld over de formulering van enkele zaken, aldus Vance.
Donderdag meldden verschillende Amerikaanse media dat de partijen tot een akkoord waren gekomen. Het Iraanse staatspersbureau Tasnim sprak dat tegen.
"Ik kan niet garanderen dat we eruit zullen komen, maar op dit moment heb ik er een goed gevoel over", zei de vicepresident.

We had to say goodbye to our sweet dog Lily on Tuesday. You may have seen pictures of her and her sidekick Andi on my stream over the years.
She gave us 14 plus years of love, goofiness, ear kisses and faithful friendship.
Lily loved swimming in the Pocono lake we named after her (don't tell the HOA), playing in the snow, food (pizza crusts were a top item - see the image of Lily letting Cheryl know what she wants), and doing just about anything with her family.
