Polish far-right politicians have claimed that the murder of Henry Nowak symbolises “Britain’s descent into the depths of the earth” as populists from France, Spain and Japan focused on harrowing clips of his dying moments.

Despite pleas from Nowak’s family for people not to exploit the killing for political gain and to focus on cutting knife crime, their comments have focused on race and immigration.

Exclusive: Analysis shows resort has yet to recoup Disney’s investment despite record revenue and 16m annual visitors

Disney has still not recouped $4.2bn of its investment in Disneyland Paris after more than 30 years, even though the resort is now its best-performing international outpost, according to an analysis of recent filings.

The sprawling theme park complex swung open its ornate iron gates in 1992 and now attracts about 16 million visitors every year. It is wholly owned by Disney and is home to two theme parks – the fairytale-inspired Disneyland and Disney Adventure World, which launched its largest-ever expansion in late March. The lavish land, themed to the hit animated movie Frozen, is part of a $2.5bn (€2bn) investment by Disney, and its new chief executive, Josh D’Amaro, was on hand for the opening alongside Emmanuel Macron.

After the dramatic termination of Scott Pelley, four of the show’s seven full-time correspondents are out under Bari Weiss’ leadership

For many years now, CBS News employees entering the network’s New York headquarters have walked by a poster showing the seven correspondents who have helped keep 60 Minutes the most-watched show in news for 52 straight television seasons: Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, Bill Whitaker, Anderson Cooper, Sharyn Alfonsi, Jon Wertheim and Cecilia Vega.

Over the last tumultuous week, three of those correspondents – Pelley, Alfonsi and Vega – have been fired. Cooper – who is also a CNN primetime anchor – announced in February that he is leaving the show. Amid the most significant uproar in the show’s lengthy history, CBS News staffers and 60 Minutes veterans now have two central questions: Who will be left to make the show’s 59th season, which begins in September? And will it still feel like 60 Minutes?

DEN HAAG (ANP) - Regeringspartij D66 is bereid te praten over bezuinigingen op andere terreinen dan de sociale zekerheid, als alternatief voor de ingrepen die het minderheidskabinet onder druk van de vakbonden van tafel heeft gehaald. Dat heeft Tweede Kamerlid Stephan Neijenhuis, na veel aandringen vanuit de oppositie, gezegd tijdens een Kamerdebat.

Neijenhuis zei dat hij het gesprek "zonder taboes" wil voeren. Maar hij draaide lang om de vraag heen of dat betekent dat de bijna 7 miljard die de coalitie wil bezuinigen op uitkeringen, wat hem betreft ook elders kan worden gevonden. Uiteindelijk zei hij dat ook daarover te praten valt, al wees hij er ook op dat op geen enkel ministerie zomaar miljarden te halen zijn.

VVD-Kamerlid Ingrid Michon-Derkzen zei ook een gesprek "zonder taboes" te willen, maar voorlopig alleen "over de inhoud". Wat er aan het einde van dat gesprek met een eventuele rekening gebeurt, liet zij in het midden, maar zij bleef er wel op hameren dat de sociale zekerheid "betaalbaar" moet blijven. Michon beschuldigde de oppositie ervan er een "woordenspel" van te maken.

Alternatieven

Het kabinet sprak tot dusver niet met één mond over de alternatieven waarover het met de oppositie en sociale partners wil praten. Minister Hans Vijlbrief (Sociale Zaken, D66) liet doorschemeren dat die ook buiten zijn ministerie gezocht kunnen worden. Minister Eelco Heinen (Financiën, VVD) hield vast aan het afgesproken financiële plaatje.

De vakbonden zijn van tafel gelopen omdat het kabinet niet bereid is duidelijk uit te spreken dat bezuinigingen op de sociale zekerheid helemaal van de baan zijn. Veel oppositiepartijen lieten in het debat weten dat ook zij het geld ergens anders vandaan willen kunnen halen. De oppositie sprak eerder al in meerderheid uit zich niet gebonden te voelen door de financiële kaders van het coalitieakkoord.

UTRECHT (ANP) - ASN Bank zegt een technische storing waardoor het spaarsaldo van klanten niet goed wordt weergegeven in de nacht van donderdag op vrijdag te herstellen. Door de storing wordt het saldo op spaar- of beleggingsrekeningen niet goed weergegeven in de app en op de website.

Op Allestoringen.nl komen meldingen binnen van klanten met problemen. Klanten van de bank zagen bijvoorbeeld ineens 5000 euro minder op hun spaarrekening, schrijft het AD.

Volgens ASN Bank konden klanten nog wel geld overboeken ook als het bedrag niet zichtbaar was in de app. "Als er genoeg saldo op je rekening staat, lukt het gewoon om een overboeking te doen."

Volgens een woordvoerder van de bank is het probleem ontstaan doordat een update niet goed is verlopen. "We hebben ervoor gekozen dit komende nacht te herstellen om de dienstverlening overdag niet verder te verstoren", stelt de bank.

Met de pijlsnelle ontwikkeling van kunstmatige intelligentie is Silicon Valley bezig niets minder dan een nieuwe God te creëren, waaraan de mens onderworpen zal zijn. De Frans-Tunesische filosoof Mehdi Belhaj Kacem is daarvan overtuigd. De vraag is alleen is wat we met deze God aan moeten.

Hackers are convincing Meta’s AI support chatbot to let them take over other peoples’ accounts:

A video posted on X showed the step-by-step process to hack someone’s Instagram account. The hacker allegedly used a VPN to spoof the targets’ presumed location to avoid triggering Instagram’s automated account protections. Then, the hacker opened a chat with Meta AI Support Assistant and asked the bot to add a new email address to the target’s account. The chatbot can be seen sending a verification code to the email address provided by the hacker; the hacker then shares the verification code with the chatbot, which prompts the chatbot to show a button to “Reset Password.” The hacker enters a new password and takes over the victim’s account.

On Monday, Instagram spokesperson Andy Stone said in a reply to Wong’s post and others that the issue was now fixed. It’s unclear how many Instagram users had their accounts improperly accessed.

It’s not that easy. Probably this particular tactic is now blocked. But there are others, many others, and they cannot be blocked as a class. The real problem is that LLM chatbots are not trustworthy enough for this application.

Over het schrikbewind van Ouwehand ging het vorig jaar ook al; destijds mopperde (de inmiddels afgesplitste senator en) partijoprichter Niko Koffeman nog dat de PVDD van oorsprong rechts noch links was (Paul Cliteur was nota bene ooit lijstduwer), en sprak hij de wens uit dat de focus zou terugkeren naar het niche waarvoor het geheel ooit in het leven geroepen werd. Die kans blijft vooralsnog onverminderd klein.
