Over the weekend, as evening fell on the hilly (and, crucially, shady) Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, one of Paris’s most popular green spaces, the joyfully chaotic Fête de la musique – a summer solstice celebration of music in all its forms – got under way, with competing DJs starting their sets in nearby cafes.

It was stiflingly hot and picnickers were cooling down with water, juice or alcohol-free beer – or at least, they should have been. The Paris authorities banned the consumption of alcohol in public spaces (apart from cafe terraces) during the festival, just one of the measures they can put in place to keep citizens safe once the city reaches vigilance rouge canicule – red heatwave alert.

Financial analyst Bill Blain of Windshift Capital sees signs that SpaceX could fall further, writing this morning:

Congratulations if you successfully “stagged” out of the SpaceX IPO at the $225 top last week.

Yesterday the reverse-rocket stock briefly broke lower than the $150 post-IPO opening price. The option market is bearish, hinting it could break $100 if the slide continues. There was clearly good money to be made playing the FOMO curve that erupted around the deal, but the secret of any good party is knowing when to bail-out.

SpaceX might have seemed charmed after its record-breaking IPO and subsequent rally, but it’s come down to earth with a bump over the past couple of days, with shares at one point falling below the opening price on its market debut.

“Post-IPO stocks often enter a period of volatility as the market gets to grips with the new entrant, some investors rush to cash out, and others assess at what price they are willing to jump in.

UTRECHT (ANP) - Rijkswaterstaat heeft het hitteprotocol voor woensdag en donderdag uitgebreid naar het hele land, meldt een woordvoerder. Dinsdag was het al van kracht in zes provincies. Het betekent dat gestrande weggebruikers in deze provincies op de wegen die Rijkswaterstaat beheert zo snel mogelijk naar "een veilige locatie met voorzieningen" worden gebracht, zoals een tankstation of parkeerplaats.

Het gaat om de meeste snelwegen en een aantal N-wegen. Het hitteprotocol is bedoeld om automobilisten met pech op warme dagen niet langer dan nodig te laten wachten op het hete asfalt.

AMSTERDAM /ROTTERDAM (ANP) - Vervoerders in grote steden starten het openbaar vervoer weer op na de staking van woensdagochtend. Het duurt tot het middaguur voordat alles in Amsterdam weer volgens dienstregeling gaat, verwacht een woordvoerder van vervoersbedrijf GVB. RET, het openbaarvervoerbedrijf van Rotterdam verwacht dat rond 11.00 uur de dienstregeling weer helemaal volgens plan rijdt.

De Amsterdamse en Rotterdamse vervoerders hadden reizigers eerder al aangeraden om een reis met het openbaar vervoer tot na de ochtend uit te stellen. "We starten weer op en het duurt even voordat alles weer rijdt", vertellen de woordvoerders van GVB en RET afzonderlijk van elkaar. In Rotterdam blijven de metrostations nog wel gesloten tot 08.45 uur, om de metro's de tijd te geven om al het materieel op bestemming te brengen. Dan wordt die dienstregeling om 09.00 uur weer opgestart.

De veerdienst van het GVB vaart wel volgens dienstregeling. De veren waren geen onderdeel van de staking.

HTM, het openbaarvervoerbedrijf van Den Haag, meldt via een woordvoerder dat alle bussen en trams vanaf 08.00 uur onderweg zijn naar hun locatie. Hoe laat alles precies weer volgens dienstregeling rijdt, kon de woordvoerder nog niet zeggen. Ook HTM raadt reizigers aan goed de dienstregeling in de gaten te houden.
