A man and a woman have been arrested by counter-terrorism police in London on suspicion of assisting Iran’s foreign intelligence service.
The arrests of the 42-year-old woman and 60-year-old man were made after searches at addresses in north and north-west London on 24 June, the Metropolitan police said.

A decade ago or so, parents were finding loom bands in the couch cushions and underfoot during a craze for the analog toys. Kids made bracelets and other items, and in the vein of LEGO and other build-your-own entertainment, YouTube creators provided tutorials for elaborate projects. The toy fad may have waned, but for artist Hannah Buechler, the small, colorful rubber bands proved an accessible material for an inventive application.
At a glance, Buechler’s works appear like expressionist paintings, with gestural brushstrokes and carefully chosen colors. But our senses are piqued by the unusual texture, and upon closer inspection, we observe thousands of loom bands in vibrant relief.
Buechler draws upon her interest in fabrics and mark-making techniques of the Impressionists. She’s interested in pushing the boundaries of textiles by using found and recycled materials, and her works often plumb the relationship between natural and synthetic media.
Utilizing a felt template, which also serves as the substrate, Buechler loops the bands onto small tufts of colorful wool roving. Soft and malleable, these segments can be curved and nestled in among one another to create any shape, assembled almost like a puzzle. The finished work retains its textile-like pliability, but when framed and installed on the wall, it assumes the character of a painting.

NEW YORK (ANP) - De prijs van een vat Brentolie is donderdagmiddag gestegen tot meer dan 105 dollar per vat, waarmee olie uit Europa en het Midden-Oosten de opmars van de afgelopen tijd steeds verder doorzet. De olieprijzen gaan nu al langere tijd omhoog als gevolg van het almaar escalerende geweld in de Iranoorlog.
De Brentprijs stond tegen 15.30 uur meer dan 4 procent hoger op 105,13 dollar per vat. Daarmee is Brent gestegen naar het hoogste niveau sinds mei. De piek van Brent van dit jaar staat op meer dan 126 dollar van eind april. Een vat Amerikaanse WTI-olie klom bijna 4 procent naar bijna 100 dollar per vat.
De stijgende prijzen zijn ook merkbaar aan de Nederlandse pomp. De adviesprijs voor benzine staat nu op het recordniveau van ruim 2,72 euro per liter. Diesel nadert met een adviesprijs van 2,70 euro het oude record van ruim 2,80 euro uit april.
