The first model on the Chanel catwalk was wearing a sheer mousseline skirt suit embroidered with delicate silk beanstalks, and carrying a tiny century-old leatherbound book of fairytales that once belonged to Coco Chanel herself. With the Lord of the Rings soundtrack booming through a stage set of giant parasol-scale poppies and lupins as tall as giraffes, the clothes narrated the stories in the pages. A row of buttons on the spine of a dress began with an ugly duckling, and ended with a swan. A Goldilocks minaudière handbag was fashioned in the shape of a golden sleeping bear. The lining of a jacket was hand-painted with a scene from Puss in Boots.
But Matthieu Blazy, holding the same book in his hands backstage after the show, told reporters that his favourite fairytale was the rags-to-riches story of Coco herself. “She climbed the ladder to find her golden goose, by making clothes for real women. Her clothes were never parodies. They were rooted in life,” Chanel’s creative director said.

Continue reading...DEN HAAG (ANP) - Verschillende gemeenten die zich op het ministerie van Asiel en Migratie moeten melden omdat zij niet voldoen aan de spreidingswet, zeggen hard te werken aan het realiseren van opvangplekken voor asielzoekers. Procedures en beschikbare geschikte locaties zorgen volgens onder meer Aalten, Gemert-Bakel en Sluis voor vertraging.
Minister Bart van den Brink besloot maandag om burgemeesters en wethouders van tien gemeenten uit te nodigen voor een gesprek. Die moeten ertoe leiden dat de gemeenten alsnog opvanglocaties gaan regelen. Als de gesprekken niet tot resultaat leiden, kan in het uiterste geval de minister in plaats van de gemeente een vergunning voor een opvanglocatie verlenen.
Het gaat om Aalten, Achtkarspelen, Bergen (Limburg), Beverwijk, Gemert-Bakel, Overbetuwe, Sluis, Valkenswaard, Voerendaal en Westland.
Van den Brink zei dat in totaal 107 gemeenten momenteel niet aan hun wettelijke taak voldoen. Daarom is de verwachting dat er meer gemeenten moeten langskomen.
NEW YORK (ANP) - De beurzen in New York lieten dinsdag bij de opening een gemengd beeld zien. De Amerikaanse chipbedrijven gingen omlaag na de zware koersverliezen in de Aziatische en Europese chipsector. Beleggers grepen de nieuwe recordresultaten van het Zuid-Koreaanse Samsung, de grootste fabrikant van geheugenchips ter wereld, aan om winst te nemen in chipaandelen die door de AI-rally dit jaar sterk in waarde zijn gestegen.
De Dow-Jonesindex noteerde kort na opening van de markt 0,3 procent hoger op 53.175 punten. De index van de dertig grootste Amerikaanse bedrijven sloot maandag al voor het eerst in de geschiedenis boven de 53.000 punten. De breder samengestelde S&P 500-index zakte 0,2 procent tot 7518 punten en techgraadmeter Nasdaq zakte 0,9 procent tot 25.902 punten.
De Nasdaq won een dag eerder nog ruim 1 procent dankzij sterke koerswinsten van de chipbedrijven.
CISA is reportedly using Anthropic's Mythos model to scan government code repositories for security vulnerabilities, with sources saying the audits have already found numerous bugs. Reuters reports: The scanning is being done by CISA's Attack Surface Evaluation team, according to one of the sources. The team is a group within CISA that conducts digital security assessments and hacking exercises across government. Two of the sources said the audits had already uncovered a large number of vulnerabilities but did not elaborate. Reuters could not establish exactly how much government code the team had gone through or the nature or severity of the bugs it discovered.

Late last month, the New York Times said that NSA analysts had been testing Mythos in classified settings and coming away impressed with its capabilities. But when Anthropic rolled out a public version of Mythos called Fable, which included what it described as cybersecurity safeguards, the White House suddenly demanded that it ban foreigners from running it. This triggered a global shutdown of the model that was lifted only last week.

Het belooft nog een flinke uitdaging te worden: Donald Trump is bij de NAVO-top in Istanbul hard op zoek naar de Belgische delegatie. “They are corrupt.
