​Tata Steel heeft gereageerd op het nieuws dat het Openbaar Ministerie hen strafrechtelijk gaat vervolgen. Het staalbedrijf in IJmuiden nodigt hen uit om te komen werken op de afdeling duurzaamheid en PR.

“We zagen dat jullie ons gaan vervolgen voor opzettelijke vervuiling”, schrijft Tata Steel-directeur Hans van den Berg aan het OM. “Hoe klinkt Chief Sustainability Officer?”

Volgens Van den Berg is het voor het Openbaar Ministerie dé kans om Tata Steel van binnenuit te veranderen. “Als je écht verandering wil voor omwonenden, moet je volgens mij juist bij ons in de PR komen werken. En nog even ter check: wat hebben jullie gedaan in jullie studententijd?”

Estonia, Luxembourg and UK are the top three in biennial Yale University index in tackling pollution and other issues

Much of the world has made encouraging strides in reducing toxic problems such as water and air pollution that have long plagued communities. But there is still a widespread lack of progress among countries in dealing with the climate crisis, according to the latest edition of an influential environmental scorecard.

The biennial Yale University index again ranks Estonia as the best-performing of 177 assessed countries, after strong recent efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and protect its ecosystems. Luxembourg is second, and the UK is third, having moved up from fifth place in the 2024 index.

Wat kan er misgaan na een nederlaag in 2012, 2017 en 2022 terwijl je 30-jarige kroonprins Jordan Bardella die een Italiaanse prinses date in de coulissen hebt staan, en in de peilingen toch zo'n 5 procentpunten populairder lijkt dan Marine. Maar goed, ze gaat het DOEN. En je kunt moeilijk zeggen dat deze run dezelfde wordt als de vorige drie keer, want de vorige drie keer droeg ze geen enkelband tijdens de campagne, debatten en uitslagenavond! Ditmaal zeer mogelijk wel, want ze werd gisteren dan misschien vrijgesproken van haar verbod op deelname aan de presidentsverkiezingen van april 2027, maar ze moet wel nog een jaar lang een enkelband dragen. Bovendien staat ze tijdens die campagne ook nog onder huisarrest, waardoor een rechter vooraf moet goedkeuren wanneer ze 't land in mag.

Ook tegen die enkelband en het huisarrest gaat ze nu in beroep bij de hoogste rechtbank van Frankrijk, maar vrij sub-optimale omstandigheden om je kandidatuur in bekend te maken. Al hoopt ze natuurlijk vooral dat deze rechtszaak (die neerkwam op het schuiven met wat Europees fractie-geld naar de nationale fractie, en volgens de rechter nadrukkelijk niet neerkwam op zelfverrijking) haar de door het systeem verdrukte volksheldin maakt.

Onze voorlopige definitieve werkhypothese: de Franse Deep State wist dat Bardella de verkiezing zou gaan winnen, dus spraken ze Marine Le Pen expres vrij zodat zij opnieuw zal verliezen.

Naschrift: wellicht ten overvloede maar Rassemblement National staat met Jordan of Marine ver aan kop in de Franse peilingen, namelijk met zo'n 32% tot 35% van de stemmen. Het linkse blok volgt met 26% tot 28%, en Macron met 20% tot 24%.
