Madeleine McCann’s younger brother, Sean, has been selected to represent Scotland in swimming at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
McCann, a student at Loughborough University, is expected to compete in a number of longer-distance freestyle events when competition begins at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre on Thursday, and hopes a strong performance in Glasgow will strengthen his bid for selection to Team Great Britain for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. McCann is eligible to represent Scotland through his father, Gerry, who was born in Glasgow.

Continue reading...GEORGETOWN (ANP/DPA) - Het dodental na een bootongeluk in Guyana is opgelopen naar 41. Een veerboot kapseisde afgelopen weekend en als gevolg daarvan zijn nog tientallen mensen vermist.
Sinds zondag wordt gezocht naar slachtoffers van het ongeluk. Er zijn tot dusver 77 opvarenden gered. Premier Mark Phillips zei dinsdag ervan overtuigd te zijn dat er 179 mensen aan boord waren. Eerder werd bekend dat op de passagierslijst 133 mensen stonden.
De premier van het Zuid-Amerikaanse land zei zondag dat twee bemanningsleden positief waren getest op marihuana. Hij voegde eraan toe dat er een onderzoek loopt. De m/v Barima was onderweg van de hoofdstad Georgetown naar het in het noordwesten gelegen dorp Port Kaituma.
