PLATEAU DE SOLAISON (ANP) - De Tour de France is na het uitvallen van Jonas Vingegaard niet meer hetzelfde volgens Tadej Pogačar. De Sloveense geletruidrager zei dat zondag in een flashinterview na afloop van de vijftiende etappe van de Ronde van Frankrijk.
Volgens Pogačar zou een dopingcontrole in de nacht voor de start mogelijk iets met de val van Vingegaard te maken hebben gehad. "Misschien speelde dat mee. Dat kan", aldus de viervoudig winnaar van de Tour. Vingegaard werd om 02.00 uur in de morgen gewekt door Franse dopingcontroleurs. Pogačar werd zelf om 05.00 uur gecontroleerd.
Pogačar noemde het wegvallen van zijn Deense concurrent "heel triest". "We strijden sinds 2021 tegen elkaar. Aan het begin hadden we misschien niet een hele goede relatie met elkaar. Maar de laatste jaren is dat anders. We zijn goede rivalen van elkaar", aldus Pogačar. "De Tour is niet meer hetzelfde zonder hem."
