WENEN (ANP/BLOOMBERG) - Zeven landen van oliekartel OPEC+ gaan de olieproductie in augustus verder verhogen. De landen hebben zondag besloten opnieuw de productiequota met 188.000 vaten olie per dag te verhogen. Voor juni en juli werden even grote verhogingen afgesproken.

Saudi-Arabië, Rusland, Irak, Koeweit, Kazachstan, Algerije en Oman laten in een gezamenlijke verklaring weten met hun besluit de stabiliteit van de oliemarkt te ondersteunen. Hiermee komt er meer olie op de markt, nu de Straat van Hormuz weer wordt heropend en de olieprijzen herstellen van de eerdere stijgingen door de blokkade van de voor het olievervoer belangrijke zeestraat.

De stap van OPEC+ komt niet als een verrassing. Woensdag zeiden ingewijden al tegen persbureau Reuters dat de landen naar verwachting zullen instemmen met het verhogen van de olieproductie met ongeveer 188.000 vaten per dag.

Whether you’re learning guitar or trying to get fit, short bursts of effort can work wonders

You could call it the tamest of mid-life crises, but as I turned 40 last year, I decided to devote myself to a long-neglected ambition – learning the guitar. I dutifully set myself the task of practising for 30 minutes a day, with the aim of strumming my way through the Bob Dylan songbook by my 41st birthday.

What stood in the way, of course, was life. With work and family commitments, I was lucky to find a free half-hour time more than once or twice a week. Each day that went by without practice left me feeling more demotivated, and the guitar soon started gathering dust next to my piano.
