CALOGNE (ANP) - De grote brand in het natuurgebied Les Gavarres, niet ver van de Spaanse Costa Brava, is volgens autoriteiten onder controle. Dat schrijft de Spaanse nieuwssite El Diario. De lockdown die in de omgeving werd afgekondigd, is opgeheven.
De brandweer maakt zich wel nog zorgen dat het vuur door een sterke zeewind zich toch verder kan verspreiden. "Het wordt een zware dag, met hoge temperaturen", meldde Joan Rovira, het hoofd van de interventie-eenheid van de brandweer.
Er is nogmaals opgeroepen niet naar het getroffen gebied te gaan. El Diario spreekt van brandtoerisme. Tot nu toe zijn acht huizen volledig verwoest.
Het is een hilarisch patroon: mensen met kinderen die opvallend veel op hen lijken. Dezelfde oogopslag, dezelfde fysieke trekken en zelfs dezelfde manier van doen. Je hebt het vast weleens gezien op straat of op Instagram, misschien wel bij vrienden met een kind. Zo niet, dan moet je er echt eens op letten.
Kiezen mensen hier bewust voor? Of gaan ze gewoon steeds meer op hun kind lijken nadat ze die hebben genomen?
De gelijkenissen in uiterlijk zijn soms op het belachelijke af. Bijvoorbeeld iemand met een grote neus en een klein hoofd, met een kind waarvan het gelaat net zo uit verhouding is. En het zit ook in gedrag. Bij een druk kind hoort steevast iemand die snel beweegt en chaotisch praat. Kijk de volgende keer dat je mensen met een kind ziet maar eens goed. Echt, het is ronduit koddig.

Knowledge is power, in all cases except this one. I used to think that tales like the one I’m about to relate were urban myths. I was definitely happier then, in the days when there was still the possibility of experiencing another moment’s peace.
Not a friend of a friend, or a colleague’s auntie’s neighbour, but a member of my extended family, a fully trusted source, recently went to the loo upstairs in her home, lifted the lid, and found a rat in the bowl staring back at her. Obviously, she slammed down the lid, packed her belongings and immediately emigrated. (Kidding, miraculously.)
