En weer dáárna verwijderde het alle comments en sloot het de comment-optie, met de bijsluiter: "De redactie accepteert geen haatdragende berichten en doodsbedreigingen. Daarom is de mogelijkheid om onder dit bericht te reageren uitgezet." Maar wie is hier nou haatdragend? Nou dat vroeg Michiel zich dus ook af, en hij vroeg het aan 3voor12-muziekjournalist Atze de Vrieze. Benieuwd is wat we zijn!
LONDEN (ANP) - Tennisser Jesper de Jong heeft na een lange vijfsetter in twee aktes de tweede ronde van Wimbledon bereikt. De 26-jarige Nederlander had in totaal meer dan vier uur nodig om de Australiër Rinky Hijikata te verslaan: 7-6 (4) 3-6 5-7 6-4 6-3.
De Jong was maandag al begonnen op het beroemde grastoernooi van Londen, maar de partij moest door invallende duisternis worden afgebroken. Het stond 1-1 in sets en Hijikata leidde met 5-3 in de derde set.
Bij de hervatting nam de Haarlemmer meteen het initiatief door dankzij een break terug te komen tot 5-5. Maar hij raakte het momentum onmiddellijk kwijt en gaf vervolgens zijn servicegame uit handen. Hijikata trok de set met 7-5 naar zich toe.
Fonseca
In de vierde set liep De Jong met gevarieerd spel uit naar 5-2. Hij liet Hijikata terugkomen tot 5-4, maar maakte het alsnog koel af en sleepte er een vijfde set uit. Daarin was de Nederlander dominant en speelde hij na een snelle break gecontroleerd naar de winst van de set en daarmee de partij.
De Jong treft in de tweede ronde de als 24e geplaatste Braziliaan João Fonseca. Vorig jaar haalde de Nederlander ook de tweede ronde, maar verloor toen van de Serviër Miomir Kecmanović.
NEW YORK (ANP) - De aandelenbeurzen in New York zijn dinsdag met beperkte koersuitslagen geopend, nadat de Dow-Jonesindex een dag eerder op een nieuw recordniveau sloot. Het is ook de laatste handelsdag van het tweede kwartaal en de eerste helft van dit jaar. Wall Street heeft in die periodes flinke koerswinsten behaald, ondanks de onrust door de oorlog in het Midden-Oosten.
De Dow noteerde kort na opening een fractie hoger op 52.223 punten. Op maandag eindigde de graadmeter met daarin de dertig grootste Amerikaanse bedrijven voor het eerst boven de 52.000 punten. Over de eerste helft van dit jaar is de Dow met meer dan 8 procent gestegen.
De S&P 500 ging in de vroege handel een fractie omhoog tot 7444 punten. De S&P won in de eerste jaarhelft eveneens meer dan 8 procent. De Nasdaq klom bij aanvang 0,3 procent tot 25.895 punten, na de stevige plus op maandag. De technologiebeurs boekte sinds begin dit jaar een winst van ongeveer 11 procent.
Chipbedrijven
Over het tweede kwartaal wisten de drie hoofdgraadmeters op Wall Street de sterke winsten in jaren neer te zetten, onder meer dankzij de opmars van chipbedrijven. Voor de S&P 500 en Nasdaq ging het om de grootste kwartaalwinst in zes jaar en voor de Dow om de sterkste stijging sinds 2022. Vorige week was er wel een uitverkoop in de techsector door zorgen over de winstgevendheid van de enorme AI-investeringen op de langere termijn.
De aandacht van beleggers bleef onder meer uitgaan naar de ontwikkelingen in het Midden-Oosten. De Amerikaanse gezanten Steve Witkoff en Jared Kushner zijn gearriveerd in Doha om met Qatarese bemiddelaars te praten over de onderhandelingen met Iran. De Verenigde Staten en Iran sloten eerder deze maand een voorlopig vredesakkoord. De olieprijzen toonden kleine plussen.
Consumentenvertrouwen
Verder zal er gekeken worden naar verschillende macro-economische cijfers waaronder over de Amerikaanse vacatures en het consumentenvertrouwen van onderzoeksbureau Conference Board. Donderdag komt het belangrijke banenrapport van de overheid. Wall Street is vrijdag gesloten voor de viering van Onafhankelijkheidsdag op 4 juli.
Bij de bedrijven was dronemaker AeroVironment een uitblinker met een winst van ruim 18 procent, dankzij sterke resultaten.
BONN (ANP) - Minstens een kwart van de capaciteit van het Duitse spoor moet beschikbaar zijn voor concurrenten van Deutsche Bahn. Het Federaal Agentschap voor Spoorwegnetwerken heeft dat als voorstel ingediend bij de adviesraad voor spoorweginfrastructuur. Het agentschap denkt dat de concurrentie voor betere kwaliteit en lagere reiskosten zorgt.
Het precieze percentage moet later nog worden vastgesteld, maar het agentschap stelt voor dat spoorbedrijf Deutsche Bahn maximaal 60 tot 75 procent van de dienstregeling mag verzorgen op trajecten waar een maximumcapaciteit geldt. Daarmee raakt het voornamelijk langeafstandsreizen.
Tot nu toe is investeren voor andere vervoerders lastig, omdat ze niet kunnen inschatten of er voldoende plek op het spoor vrij is, aldus het agentschap. Dat wil ook dat die bedrijven verkooppunten en wachtruimtes krijgen op stations.
Reizigers krijgen nu met veel treinuitval en lange vertragingen te maken door werkzaamheden aan het verouderde Duitse spoornetwerk.

The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is considering new requirements around "steering" for Apple and Google's mobile platforms. The consultation concerns restrictions the CMA says are "currently preventing UK app developers from 'steering' their customers away from Apple and Google's platforms for payment." Direct engagement with customers allows developers to bypass the tech giants' app stores and avoid the fees they charge. According to the CMA, Apple currently prohibits the practice in the UK, while Google restricts it. Although the CMA does not expect Apple or Google to eliminate fees when developers engage directly with customers, it does expect steering fees to be lower than current app store charges. It suggested that savings could be passed on to customers or "invested back into the developers' businesses to support future innovation." Will Hayter, Executive Director for Digital Markets, said: "While it is only fair for Apple and Google to be compensated for the services they provide, any fees they charge must be justified through a robust, evidence-led framework involving due reference to both cost and value." Apple did not respond to a request for comment. A Google spokesperson told The Register: "We have already made the changes that the CMA is proposing today." This includes its fee structure, with the new rates due to take effect on June 30. The company says the changes will reduce costs for many developers, although the CMA has yet to say whether they go far enough. In June, the regulator imposed new rules on Google Search to help publishers prevent their work appearing in AI overviews, and secured commitments from the pair regarding how their app stores operate. Both Google and Apple have already been designated as having Strategic Market Status (SMS), meaning the CMA has far-reaching powers over how the duo runs their mobile businesses. The CMA is also looking at access to near-field communications (NFC) on Apple devices and is considering a potential requirement to allow developers access, which could address the current "high fees and strict terms." Google and Apple are not the only tech giants to come under scrutiny. Microsoft and AWS have also attracted the regulator's attention. Respondents have until July 28 to submit responses to the steering consultation. NFC views need to be in by July 21. The CMA expects to decide later in the year whether to impose new requirements. ®
